Addressing persistent pimples, especially from puberty to early adulthood, requires understanding the underlying dosha imbalance in Ayurveda. Pimples, or acne, are often linked to an aggravation of Pitta dosha, manifesting as excess heat or toxins (ama) in the body. To help your daughter manage this, consider focusing on cooling and detoxifying routines.
First, focus on her diet, which should include more cooling, Pitta-pacifying foods. Encourage her to eat sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes. Fruits like melons and pomegranates, and vegetables such as cucumber and leafy greens can be helpful. It’s important to avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods, as these can increase Pitta.
Incorporate herbs like Neem in her routine, which has skin-purifying properties. She can drink Neem tea daily or apply Neem paste directly on affected areas. A mix of sandalwood powder and water applied as a facial mask may also cool and soothe inflamed skin.
For cleansing and exfoliation, opt for besan (gram flour) mixed with turmeric and yogurt for a natural scrub. This could be done 2-3 times a week. Also, drinking plenty of water and herbal teas like chamomile or mint helps flush out toxins.
Regarding hair growth, if there’s thinning or slow growth, focus on restoring blood circulation and boosting nourishment to hair follicles. Regular oil massages with oils like Bhringraj or Brahmi can be effective. These oils help to strengthen hair roots and reduce hair fall. Massaging the scalp improves circulation and ensures better nutrient supply to hair roots.
Including protein-rich foods, as well as On hair masks alternating yogurt, amla (Indian gooseberry), or hibiscus paste, again improve hair health and stimulate growth. Gentle combing with a wooden comb can also promote circulation.
Consistent meditation and yoga practices like Shavasana to reduce stress are beneficial for both skin and hair health. Avoid harsh chemical products and heat styling tools as much as possible. If there’s no improvement, consult a dermatologist for a combined approach with ayurvedic treatments.
