Vaginal dryness after menopause is common and can indeed make intercourse painful. It’s largely due to reduced levels of estrogen production, leading to less natural lubrication. Ayurveda offers natural solutions that can alleviate these symptoms, focusing on balancing the doshas, particularly Vata, which often goes out of balance during menopause.

1) Sesame Oil Massage: Start with a daily external massage. Warm sesame oil slightly and apply it to the vaginal area. It has natural lubricating properties and can help soothe the tissues. Do this at night for better absorption.

2) Ghee Application: Apply a small amount of ghee directly or ingest it as part of your diet. Ayurveda considers ghee as an excellent natural lubricant and rejuvenator for the body tissues. 1 teaspoon of ghee internally on an empty stomach in morning can be beneficial.

3) Aloe Vera Gel: Use fresh aloe vera gel, apply it externally. Make sure it’s a clean and pure source, free from dyes or additives. Just a small amount can help hydrate the skin and provide relief from dryness.

4) Diet Adjustments: Incorporate hydrating and moistening foods into your diet. Include things like cucumbers, avocados, and walnuts. Avoid excessively spicy or drying foods which can exacerbate dryness.

5) Herbal Tea: Drink tea made from herbs like Shatavari which is known for balancing hormones in women. Steep 1 tsp of dried Shatavari root in hot water for about 10 to 15 minutes and drink it daily.

6) Lifestyle Practices: Practice regular exercise and yoga as these activities stimulate circulation to all areas of the body and help in maintaining moisture balance. Make sure to stay hydrated and avoid synthetic underwear that can irritate sensitive skin.

It’s always best practice to consult with a healthcare provider before trying new remedies, especially if symptoms persist to ensure there isn’t an underlying condition that needs medical attention.
