Doctors' responses

The symptoms you’ve described—swelling, heat boils on the legs, and the sensation of pinching in your finger—could indicate an imbalance in your body’s doshas. According to Ayurvedic principles, these symptoms might be related to an excess of Pitta, which is associated with heat and inflammation, and Kapha, leading to fluid retention and swelling.

To address this, start by focusing on your diet. Reduce intake of spicy, oily, and fried foods, as these can increase Pitta. Instead, incorporate more cooling foods like cucumbers, celery, and salads. Drink plenty of water, and include coconut water, as it is naturally cooling and hydrating. Avoid dairy if your body feels heavy or stagnant, as it might increase Kapha.

Externally, you can apply a paste of turmeric and sandalwood to the affected areas for its anti-inflammatory properties. Mix turmeric powder with a bit of sandalwood powder and water, apply it on the boils, leave it on for about 15-20 minutes, and then rinse it off gently with lukewarm water.

For the finger and overall health, soak your hands and feet in a lukewarm water infused with neem leaves or a few drops of eucalyptus oil. Do this daily for about 10-15 minutes to alleviate the tingling sensation and disinfect any open areas on your skin.

If you do not see improvements or symptoms worsen, consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or medical professional for further diagnosis and tailored treatment. Persistent swelling and boils can sometimes indicate underlying conditions that may need different type of medical attention. Remember, it’s essential to seek medical help if symptoms progress.
