Ayurveda can offer significant support in managing uterine fibroids, including the pain associated, but it’s essential to acknowledge the limitations, especially for larger fibroids. An 8cm fibroid is quite large and, while Ayurveda can help alleviate symptoms and possibly reduce size, surgical intervention might sometimes be necessary.
First, consider your dosha imbalance. Fibroids are often related to Kapha dosha and sometimes Vata imbalances. Incorporating lifestyle and dietary changes to balance these doshas can aid in management.
For dietary recommendations, minimize intake of dairy, red meat, and refined sugars, which can aggravate Kapha. Favor lighter, warm meals, such as soups with warming spices like ginger and black pepper. Incorporate foods that help regulate hormones, like flaxseeds and leafy greens.
Herbal remedies can be beneficial too. Triphala can aid in detoxification and help with digestive balance. Additionally, Ashoka (Saraca indica) is traditionally used for female reproductive health. Take these herbs in a powdered form, about 1-2 grams twice a day with warm water.
For pain management, consider castor oil packs applied to your lower abdomen or back to relieve, with care and consistency. Abhyanga, a warm oil massage, can also alleviate Vata symptoms causing back pain.
Engage in a routine of gentle yoga postures specifically for the lower back and pelvic region, like Cat-Cow stretches and Pelvic Tilts, to ease pain.
Regular follow-up investigations are crucial here to monitor the fibroid’s progression or regression. Remember, if pain is severe or you experience unusual bleeding, consulting a gynecologist promptly is essential. These symptoms sometimes require more immediate medical intervention. With a balanced approach, the effects of Ayurveda can be notably beneficial alongside traditional medical care.
