Doctors' responses
The chronic tonsillitis your daughter experiencing may be addressed through Ayurvedic principles to balance her doshas and boost her immunity. A tailored approach is crucial to address the root causes.
First, diet plays a significant role. Encourage warm, easy-to-digest foods that do not aggravate the throat. Warm liquids like vegetable soups or hot water with pinch of turmeric can be soothing. Avoid cold, greasy, or heavy foods which might disrupt digestion.
Herbs such as Yashtimadhu (licorice) have potent anti-inflammatory and healing properties. You can prepare a mild decoction by boiling Yashtimadhu with water and honey, giving it twice a day. Ensure it’s warm, not hot, before she takes it. Another option is to try a pinch of Turmeric powder with milk before bedtime which can reduce throat inflammation and pain.
Regular gargling with a saltwater solution can also be beneficial. Warm salt water has antiseptic properties that help in reducing infection. Do this at least twice a day and ensure that she doesn’t swallow it.
Additionally, keeping her environment free from dust and smoke is important. Dry air can further irritate the throat, so a humidifier can help maintain moisture levels in her room. Teach her to breathe only through her nose, as mouth breathing might exacerbate tonsil issues.
Introduce practices such as gentle yoga or breathing exercises to enhance her body’s recilience. This not only aids in strengthening the respiratory system but also harmonizes her body’s energies.
If symptoms persist or worsen, you should consider consulting with a healthcare professional for paediatric evaluation. Chronic conditions may require a comprehensive approach, sometimes combining modern and traditional methodologies for best outcomes. Safeguarding her comfort and well-being during this period is paramount while exploring holistic routes for her recovery.
