I have dark circles around My eyes I used to sleep around 7-8 hours .I drink lots of water and still my lips are chapped and dry I do have sometimes constipation issues . Got some acne scars on my face .What are the causes of these ?

Dark circles, dry lips, constipation, and acne scars, these can all be interconnected and reflect underlying imbalances in your body. In Ayurveda, these issues often point to the vata dosha being out of balance. Vata, when aggravated, could lead to dryness in the body, reflecting in dry skin, chapped lips and even constipation.

Achieving balance might start with a focus on strengthening and regulating your digestion or “agni.” A weak or disturbed digestive fire can lead to an accumulation of ama (toxins), causing various skin issues, including acne and dark circles. Adding warm, nourishing foods into your routine could help. Consider incorporating cooked, mildly spiced meals with warming spices like ginger, cumin, and coriander. This can enhance your digestion and help reduce ama.

Stay clear from cold or raw foods as they might aggravate Vata further, causing more dryness. Instead relying on warm and oily foods might help. Think ghee, sesame oil, or even olive oil in moderation – these can help nourish and moisturize internally.

Make it a habit to have regular meals at consistent times, focusing on getting adequate fats and proteins. This could help stabilize blood sugar levels, influencing skin health positively. Additionally, stay mindful of stress, as it can reflect on your skin and digestion. Just about 10 minutes of daily meditation or mindfulness… might keep stress levels in check.

For moisturizing lips, consider applying a natural balm like ghee before bedtime. Also, apply almond oil around your eyes before sleeping – almond oil is traditionally known for its hydrating and healing properties, potentially reducing dark circles over time.

Acne scars may take time to heal, but a gentle face massage using sesame oil or a natural herbal oil can help improve circulation and assist in healing. Also, ensure you’re detoxifying periodically with herbal teas made from anise or fennel seeds.

Listen to your body’s signals, and if these symptoms persist or worsen, consult an ayurvedic practitioner who can offer a tailored approach based on your personal prakriti.
