HELLO,
Pneumonia means infection inside the lungs, especially in the air sacs called alveoli. These air sacs usually carry oxygen-> but when infected , they fill with -mucus -pus -inflammatroy fluid So the lungs cannot expand properly, and your child: -coughs continuously -breathes faster -feels tired -may have fever -may eat less
WHY DOES IT HAPPEN IN CHILDREN? Children have -smaller airways -developing immunity -higher chances of catching viral infections -sometimes a history of repeated colds (like your daughter)
WHY COUH BECOMES MORE DURING PNEUMONIA? Because the lungs are trying to expel mucus. Cough is the body’s natural protective mechanism.
HOW AYURVEDA EXPLAINS THIS CONDITION? In Ayurveda : -pneumoia is similar to kapha-vata imbalace -kapha-> mucus congestion heaviness -Vata-> dry cough, breathlessness, weakness -Agni (digestive fire) becomes weak-> leading to low appetite, fever, and slow recovery The lung channels becomes blocked with kapha mucus,
TREATMENT GOALS -reduce the infection -open the blocked airways -reduce cough and help mucus come out -improve digestion -strengthen immunity -improve lung capacity gradually
INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

HOME REMEDIES -Honey + warm water= twice daily soothes throat and reduces night cough -Turmeric milk= anti inflammatory and supports lungs -Warm soup with garlic= helps open airways and boosts immunity -Apply warm castor oil on chest at night= helps with chest congestion
Al remedies must stay mild for children
Pneumonia is treatable -but requires proper medical attention
Children recover faster when -lungs stay warm - food is light -mucus is cleared -digestion improves
Do NOT give strong Ayurvedic gold/mineral formulatios (swasari gold, bright bhasmas, rasa rasayanas to a child )

For pneumonia and recurrent cough in children, immediate standard medical care is critical. Pneumonia can escalate quickly in kids and requires attention from a pediatrician or a healthcare professional.
Regarding Ayurvedic support, ensure that her diet strengthens her immune system and supports her current medical treatment. For dietary support, focus on easily digestible foods. Warm, well-cooked meals are gentle on the system. Mung dal khichdi is soothing and balances digestive fire. Opt for warm soups; vegetable broths or simple lentil soups can be quite nourishing.
Introducing fruits such as stewed or well-cooked apples and pears can help; they are gentle on the digestive system. Steaming or lightly cooking fruits makes them easier to digest, especially in cases of reduced digestive fire (agni). Avoid fruits like bananas and cucumbers as they may increase mucus production.
For relieving cough, consider the use of honey mixed with a pinch of turmeric, but ensure it’s only given once the active phase of the fever has subsided, as honey is not recommended when the fever is present. Honey should not be heated, so add it to lukewarm water. Licorice root tea (Yastimadhu) can be soothing, prepared by boiling the root in water.
In terms of lifestyle, make sure she rests adequately. Keep her covered and warm, especially her chest region. Use a humidifier in her room to ensure the air stays moist; this helps ease coughing.
If you are considering Ayurvedic formulations like Sawsari gold, consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor it specifically to her condition, ensuring safety and appropriateness.
Most importantly, continue monitoring her symptoms closely and maintain regular follow-ups with her pediatrician to manage her recovery. This ensures she receives the best of both conventional and supportive care.
For pneumonia, it’s crucial to consult with a conventional healthcare professional immediately as this condition may require urgent medical treatment, like antibiotics. Pneumonia can be serious and a delay in proper treatment can worsen the situation, particularly in young children. Ayurvedic remedies can be supportive but should not replace essential medical care.
Once under proper medical supervision and getting the necessary treatment, you can use some supportive Ayurvedic practices alongside. Focus on balancing kapha, which is often linked to respiratory issues, and strengthen her agni (digestive fire) to support her immunity. Here’s a few suggestions:
1. Herbal Decoction: Use ginger and tulsi (Holy Basil) to prepare a mild tea. Boil a cup of water with a small piece of ginger and a few tulsi leaves for 5 minutes. Offer it warm in small sips once or twice a day.
2. Avoid Cold and Heavy Foods: For fruits, stick to warm or room temperature servings. Pomegranate and apples are beneficial; avoid bananas and under ripe fruits which may increase mucus.
3. Turmeric Milk: Mix a pinch of turmeric in warm milk and offer it before bedtime to help with cough and phlegm clearing.
4. Saussurea Gold: Check with a professional before using any specific supplement like Sawsari Gold and verify its ingredients and suitability.
Ensure a warm, serene environment to help her recover faster. Involve her in light, easy activities that don’t elevate her energy needs too much and maintain a balanced nutritious diet according to her digestion capacity. Always see a physician promptly if any alarming symptoms arise.
