Doctors' responses
Postpartum hair loss and skin dryness can be quite distressing, but Ayurveda offers approaches that can help restore balance and health to your body. It appears that Vata dosha may be imbalanced, which can contribute to hair and skin issues post-pregnancy. To address this, focusing on nourishing and grounding practices is key.
For your hair loss, start with a nourishing scalp massage. Use warm sesame or coconut oil (which is Vata pacifying) and add a few drops of brahmi or amla oil if possible. Massage gently onto your scalp at least three times a week, leaving it on for an hour before washing. This will help improve blood flow and strengthen hair roots.
Incorporate a diet that includes ghee, warm cooked foods, and easily digestible grains like rice or oatmeal. Increase intake of iron-rich foods like beetroot, spinach, and pumkin seeds. Bone broths can also be nourishing for both hair and skin health. Ensure you’re having a mix of nuts, such as almonds and walnuts, which are rich in essential fatty acids.
For your dry skin, consider applying almond oil or jojoba oil externally after bathing. Using a cream mask made of banana and honey can also rejuvenate the skin, applied once or twice a week. Consuming one teaspoon of triphala powder at night with warm water might help improve digestion and elimination, providing indirect benefits to skin health.
Your fatigue and ankle pain indicate the need for additional nutritional support and strengthening exercises. Practice gentle yoga and pranayam in the mornings to boost energy levels and reduce fatigue. Ensure you are getting enough rest at night; sleep is vital for recovery, especially during this postpartum period. Ashwagandha powder with milk can be consumed twice daily to help combat fatigue, however ensure it is suitable for your health condition and consider any allergies you might have. If symptoms persist or worsen, consulting with a healthcare provider for personalized advice is important.
