Seeking Advice for Pale Yellow Skin and Insecurity - #45008
My original skin tone is medium–dark. Since 2024, my body skin has become pale. At first, I thought pale skin looked beautiful, so I didn’t care much. But gradually, from December 2024, my skin started turning a light yellow. Even now, it still looks pale and yellowish. Initially, I thought it might be jaundice, but my eyes are a normal colour, and the skin is not a deep yellow—it's more of a light, pale yellow. I noticed another sign: when I exercise, like running or cycling, my skin turns even lighter yellow. This never happened before. Earlier, after exercising, my face, hands, and feet would become red and look healthy. Another sign I noticed was that when I clench my hand for a while, it doesn’t turn red—it stays white with only a little redness. This never happened before. Earlier, when I did any activity at home, my hands and face would become red. I also sometimes feel weak or fatigued. For this, I avoid all kinds of fast food, tea, sugar, vegetables , food cooked in oil, masala , and haldi. I also avoid meat and eggs. Only I eat boiled vegetables and rice. I do several blood tests: WBC : 6.62 RBC : 5.13 HGB : 13.3 TSH : 3.14 LIVER FUNCTION TEST (LFT) Bilirubin Total : 0.9 D.Bilirubin : 0.3 I.D.Bilirubin : 0.6 SGPT : 40 SGOT : 44 Alkaline Phosphatase : 68 Total Protein : 7.4 Globulin : 2.8 Albumin; serum : 4.6 A/G Ratio : 1.64 (KFT) Creatinine; Serum : 1.1 For this skin tone, people ignore me when talking, working with me, or even looking at me. They keep their distance from me as if I am a virus. People also avoid visiting my home. I never thought society had such rules. For this skin tone, I feel very insecure in society. I feel alone, and sometimes I feel like I don’t want to live because it seems my life is already destroyed. It feels like there is no other option. But still, I continue living with hope. Since my family is not in a good financial situation and my father is not in good health, it is not possible for me to see a doctor or get any health tests right now due to lack of money. Still, I am trying hard to save money so I can get several blood tests for my treatment in the future. Sir, I want to know if it is possible to give any tips or advice without knowing the exact cause of my pale yellowish skin. Is there anything I can do or eat that might help the pale yellow skin disappear and bring back my normal skin color? Would it be possible to give such advice?

Doctors' responses
To approach the issue of pale, yellowish skin with an minor understanding of Ayurveda, it is important to first consider if there might be some imbalance in the body’s doshas or agni (digestive fire). From an Ayurvedic perspective, this change in skin tone might be related to factors like accumulation of toxins (ama), poor digestion, or an imbalance in liver function even if your tests show normal values. The yellowish hue could suggest an imbalance in Pitta dosha, particularly if your diet is contributing to inner heat and issues with digestion.
First, focus on your diet to support healthy digestion and liver function. Since you are consuming boiled vegetables and rice, it’s crucial to ensure you are getting enough nutrients. Include easily digestible foods like cooked and slightly spiced vegetables that are benefiting, like zucchini, pumpkin, and squash. Try including spices like cumin, coriander, and fennel in moderation as they can help balance Pitta and support digestion.
Hydration is key; drinking warm water upon waking can stimulate the digestion and help in removing toxins. Consume herbal teas like chamomile or mint throughout the day, as they can have a soothing effect. Avoid skipping meals as it can lead to weakness and ensure you are eating at regular intervals.
In terms of lifestyle, practice gentle exercises like yoga or walking, which support circulation and overall wellbeing without overtaxing your body. Ensure you are getting adequate rest as poor sleep can exacerbate imbalances and cause fatigue.
Adopt a routine that includes some self-care rituals such as abhyanga, or oil massage, with coconut or sesame oil. This can enhance skin tone, promote circulation, and support the body’s tissues.
It’s advisable to seek medical attention for a proper diagnosis since more serious conditions cannot be ruled out without a thorough evaluation. Keep track of any changes or symptoms that could provide valuable insights for future consultation.
Ensure your diet is balanced and try to include sources of protein like lentils or moong dal, which will aid in maintaining your strength. Be careful to avoid extremes in diet that could lead to nutritional deficits or further imbalances. With this approach you might experience improvement, however, professional guidance is strongly advised when feasible.
