Alopecia and hair loss can stem from multiple causes including hormonal imbalances, a key concern considering your long-term thyroid medication use. In Ayurveda, hair health is closely tied to the balance of Pitta dosha and is influenced by overall body balance, or prakriti. For tackling this specific issue, a holistic approach that considers both lifestyle and dietary practices can be effective.

First, address your diet as it plays a crucial role in maintaining scalp health. Incorporate foods that pacify Pitta such as cooling and hydrating fruits like sweet melons, and pears, and increase the intake of leafy greens. Avoid excessive spicy, salty and sour foods which may aggravate Pitta.

Include herbs like Amla (Indian Gooseberry) and Brahmi in your daily regimen. Amla can be ingested as a powder or juice for strengthening hair follicles and acting as a natural anti-oxidant. Brahmi promotes hair growth and can be applied to the scalp as oil before bed, gently massaged to stimulate blood flow.

Regular head massage with Ayurvedic oils like Bhringraj or Neem oil can promote circulation and nourish the scalp. Warm the oil slightly before applying and keep it on for at least an hour before washing. Doing this twice weekly may be help beneficial

Ensure proper daily hydration and maintain a schedule of balanced meals to support optimal nourishment of body tissues, known as dhatus. Keep stress levels in check through practices like Pranayama or yoga, especially postures that enhance blood flow and support thyroid function.

Continue monitoring your thyroid levels and consult your healthcare provider regularly to ensure the dosage of your medication is aligned with your current needs, as imbalances may contribute to hair loss. If persistent hair loss continues, it would be advisable to seek personalized advice from a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner.
