Hello, I can totally relate to your concern when you see an abnormal value in your report. Please do not be afraid—usually, an isolated increase of GGT to a mild extent is reversible and not harmful, particularly when the rest of the liver tests are normal. Let me guide and assure you properly. 😊
✅ YOUR CONCERN AND PROBABLE CAUSES
Your GGT level = 60 with all other liver function test parameters normal indicates a minor liver enzyme disturbance rather than liver disease.
In your instance, the most probable causes may be: – Viral infection recently (Chickenpox in April) – Antiviral drugs + excessive Paracetamol use – Post-viral liver condition (very common) – Age-related slight metabolic slowdown
Because: Alcohol is not part of your lifestyle You eat homemade food You have no symptoms of any kind
➡️ This is NOT a condition with any risk and it is totally reversible.
✅ INTERNAL MEDICATION You can use these drugs to detoxify your liver in a gentle manner and also strengthen it:
1. Bhunimbadi Kashayam – 15 ml + 15 ml water, two times a day before eating (Most effective for post-viral liver inflammation & enzyme normalization)
2. Arogyavardhini Vati – 1 tablet two times a day after meal (Helps liver function & normalizes enzymes)
3. Guduchi Tablet – 1-0-1 after food (Facilitates post-viral recovery & immunity)
Duration: 1 month
✅ HOME REMEDIES
1. Warm jeera water every morning 2. Amla juice 20 ml with water once daily 3. Adding turmeric in your food every day 4. Completely refrain from unnecessary painkillers
✅ DIET PLAN
✅ INCLUDE:
Steamed vegetables Bottle gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin Pomegranate, apple, papaya Moong dal, rice, soft rotis 1 tsp cow ghee daily
❌ AVOID:
Deep-fried food Pickles Bakery items Cheese, butter, heavy sweets Excess tea/coffee
✅ LIFESTYLE TIPS
Early dinner, before 7:30 PM Daily 30 minutes walking Proper sleep by 10 PM Avoid overthinking and repeated testing
✅ INVESTIGATIONS NEEDED
Repeat LFT with GGT after 45 days Ultrasound abdomen (only if GGT remains high)
Your GGT rise is: Mild Post-viral & post-medicine related Not dangerous Fully reversible with proper care
This report does not indicate that you have liver disease.
With adequate Ayurvedic liver support, your GGT will turn back to normal on its own in just a few weeks.
Warm Regards, Dr Snehal Vidhate
Start with Arogyavardhini vati tab 1-0-1 after food Kumaryasava 5ml in 10 ml of water twice a day after food Avipattikara churna half teaspoon with warm water twice a day after food
Main level in Liver function test important are sgpt/ sgot, .if these are normal and also other values are normal, you need not worry. You had chicken pox. Took anti viral medicines, and paracetamol, these medicines have effect on liver.will go away with time You start with Tablet Liv-52 -DS 1-0-1 after food with water Avipattikar tablet 1-0-1 after food with water Avoid fried foods, Have easily digestible foods like khichdi, curd rice, dal rice, Drink adequate amount of water as required. Have any of these: cucumber juice/ lauki juice/ Amla juice/ carrot juice/ Tomato juice daily Follow up with reports after 21 days.
GGT, or gamma-glutamyl transferase, is an enzyme found primarily in the liver. It’s involved in various bodily processes and can sometimes elevate due to liver damage or disease. However, a GGT level of 60, while slightly above the typical range, is not alarmingly high. Your previous bout with chickenpox and the medication you took could have caused transient liver stress.
Consider mild liver support through Ayurveda to help restore balance. Start with a gentle detoxification using herbs like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa). These are traditionally used to promote liver health. You can take them as a powdered form or decoction; half teaspoon twice a day in warm water would suffice for each herb.
Focus on a diet that enhances liver function. Include freshly cooked meals emphasizing foods like beets, carrots and dark leafy greens - they help support liver detoxification. Avoid raw foods that could stress digestion and heavy foods high in fats.
Pay attention to your digestion. In Ayurveda, weak agni (digestive fire) can affect the liver. Drink warm ginger tea in the morning to stimulate agni and aid digestion throughout the day. Avoid cold, hard-to-digest foods and drinks.
Consider pranayama (breathing exercises) and gentle yoga to encourage circulation and detoxification. Pranayama, especially Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing), practiced every morning for 10-15 minutes, can be quite beneficial.
Keep hydrating well, around 8-10 glasses of water daily, and ensure proper rest. While your lifestyle is already healthy, relax your mind through meditation, reducing any stress impact on the liver.
If your GGT levels doesn’t return to normal or other symptoms develop, consult a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying liver issues.
