Concerns About Elevated GGT Levels - #45485

I did General health checkup. All tests are normal. Lft all are normal except GGT 60. Iam worried. My age is 55 old women I lead a healthy life and I don't even take outside food. No drinks nothing. In April I had chicken pox . I took antiviral medicine for 14 days and paracetamol 12 tablets. Pl.hrlp .

A GGT OF 60 BY ITSELF IS ONLY A MILD RISE AND WHEN EVERY OTHER LIVER TEST IS NORMAL, IT IS USUALLY NOTHING SERIOUS IN YOUR CASE. THE REASON IS LIKELY THE CHICKENPOX WHICH YOU HAD IN APRIL AND THE MEDICINES WITH TAKEN DURING THAT TIME. Internal Medicines- 1 Arogyavardhini Vati – 1 tablet morning + 1 tablet night after food 2 Punarnava Mandoor – 250 mg morning + 250 mg night after food 3 Guduchi Ghan Vati – 500 mg morning + 500 mg night 4 Bhumyamalaki Ghan Vati – 500 mg twice daily 5 Kumaryasava – 15 ml + 30 ml warm water after lunch & dinner

Daily Must-Do- 1 glass warm water + ½ lemon + pinch rock salt morning 100 ml fresh beetroot + carrot + amla juice daily 1 tsp cow ghee in every meal 30-min morning walk

Diet – continue your current healthy pattern, just add Pomegranate 1 daily Moong khichdi 2–3 times/week Avoid completely for 60 days: tea/coffee after 4 PM, packaged food, excess salt

Main level in Liver function test important are sgpt/ sgot, .if these are normal and also other values are normal, you need not worry. You had chicken pox. Took anti viral medicines, and paracetamol, these medicines have effect on liver.will go away with time You start with Tablet Liv-52 -DS 1-0-1 after food with water Avipattikar tablet 1-0-1 after food with water Avoid fried foods, Have easily digestible foods like khichdi, curd rice, dal rice, Drink adequate amount of water as required. Have any of these: cucumber juice/ lauki juice/ Amla juice/ carrot juice/ Tomato juice daily Follow up with reports after 21 days.

GGT, or gamma-glutamyl transferase, is an enzyme found primarily in the liver. It’s involved in various bodily processes and can sometimes elevate due to liver damage or disease. However, a GGT level of 60, while slightly above the typical range, is not alarmingly high. Your previous bout with chickenpox and the medication you took could have caused transient liver stress.

Consider mild liver support through Ayurveda to help restore balance. Start with a gentle detoxification using herbs like Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Kutki (Picrorhiza kurroa). These are traditionally used to promote liver health. You can take them as a powdered form or decoction; half teaspoon twice a day in warm water would suffice for each herb.

Focus on a diet that enhances liver function. Include freshly cooked meals emphasizing foods like beets, carrots and dark leafy greens - they help support liver detoxification. Avoid raw foods that could stress digestion and heavy foods high in fats.

Pay attention to your digestion. In Ayurveda, weak agni (digestive fire) can affect the liver. Drink warm ginger tea in the morning to stimulate agni and aid digestion throughout the day. Avoid cold, hard-to-digest foods and drinks.

Consider pranayama (breathing exercises) and gentle yoga to encourage circulation and detoxification. Pranayama, especially Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing), practiced every morning for 10-15 minutes, can be quite beneficial.

Keep hydrating well, around 8-10 glasses of water daily, and ensure proper rest. While your lifestyle is already healthy, relax your mind through meditation, reducing any stress impact on the liver.
