Hello I get why you’re worried. That burning feeling after TURP surgery can be a pain, but usually, it’s something we can fix. Don’t panic!

Recovery after TURP takes time. Even months later, some people still feel a burn after peeing. That’s probably because things are still a bit sensitive or touchy in there.

AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING

Modern Perspective could be a little irritation in your urinary tract, a low-grade infection, dryness, or maybe your pee is just too strong because you’re not drinking enough water.

Ayurvedic perspective This kind of burning is linked to something called Pitta aggravation in your urinary system, and a leftover Apana Vata imbalance after surgery. Think of it as a mild internal heat.

ABOUT VARUNA FOR YOUR PROSTATE

Varuna is usually for things like enlarged prostates or kidney stones. Since your prostate tissue is already gone, it’s probably not the right fix for the burning right now. In fact, it might even make you feel drier or more irritated.

So, please don’t start Varuna on your own.

TREATMENT GOAL

* Stop the burning sensation. * Calm down your urinary tract. * Balance out that internal heat. * Help you heal after surgery.

AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

INTERNAL MEDICATION

1.Chandanasava: Take 15 ml with an equal amount of water twice a day after meals. ( It helps cool things down and reduce burning.)

2.Gokshura Churna: Half a teaspoon with lukewarm water in the morning and evening. This helps your urinary system heal without causing more irritation.

👉Coriander Seed Water Soak a teaspoon of seeds overnight, boil them, and drink it throughout the day. This is really good for burning when you pee.

❌AVOID FOR NOW

* Varuna pills (unless a doctor tells you to). * Food that’s super spicy, sour, or fried. * Tea, coffee, and alcohol. * Holding your pee for too long.

DIET PLAN

✅INCLUDE Drink about 2.5–3 liters of water every day (unless your doctor said not to). Have coconut water, buttermilk (during the day), rice soup, and lentil soup. Urinate regularly and don’t strain yourself.

❌AVOID Eat chilies, pickles, or vinegar. Avoid late-night meals and sitting for too long.

This is super important, seriously: If the burning won’t go away, gets worse, or if you get a fever, feel like you have to go all the time, or your pee smells bad, please get a urine test. A urinary tract infection after TURP is common, but it needs to be checked out.

Burning after TURP is pretty common and usually gets better. Varuna isn’t the go-to for your current problem.

Focus on things that cool and soothe your urinary system. And if the burning keeps up, make sure to get that infection ruled out.

Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

HELLO,

You have undergone TURP surgery. In this procedure, the enlarged part of the prostate is removed through the urine passage to improve urine flow

After TURP, the inner urinary passage (prostatic fossa and bladder neck) remains raw and sensitive for many months. During healing, some patients experience -burning sensation after urination -mild irritation or discomfort -sensitivity when urine passes

This does not mean surgery failed, it means -healing Is still ongoing -the urine passage is reacting to heat, acidity or mild inflammation

ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

1)SURGERY DISTURBS -Vata dosha= causes sensitivity , irritation -Pitta dosha= causes burning sensation

2) THE AFFECTED SYSTEM IS -Mutravaha srotas (urinary system) -Basti pradesh (bladder and prostate region)

3) This condition resembles - Mutradaha - burning urination -Mild ushna-pitta vriddhi after trauma

So the core problem is -post surgical pitta irritation + vata imbalance in the urinary tract

TREATMENT GOALS -reduce burning and heat -heal the urinar passage lining -prevent infection or scarring -support bladder and prostate bed recovery -maintain smooth urine flow -avoid recurrence of symptoms

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) CHANDANASAVA= 15ml + equal water twice daily after meals for 6 weeks = best medicine for burning urination, cools the urinary tract, reduces inflammation and irritation , mild antibacterial action

2) GOSKHURADI GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 8 weeks =strengthens urinary system, reduces inflammation, prevents narrowing or fibrosis, supports bladder function

3) VARUNA CAPSULE= 500mg once daily after lunch for 6 weeks = helps proper healing of prostate bed, prevents residual blockage, anti-inflammatory

4) USHEERASAVA= 15ml + equal water twice daily after meals =strong pitta pacifier, cooling to bladder and urethra, reduces heat in urine

EXTERNAL AND LOCAL CARE

SITZ BATH (very important) -warm water sitz bath -10 minutes once daily (evening)

BENEFITS -relaxes bladder neck -improves blood circulation -reduces post-urination discomfort

HOME REMEDIES -CORIANDER WATER= soak 1 tsp coriander seed overnight boil in morning, cool , drink during day -BARLEY WATER= reduces urinary heat, improve urine flow -COCONUT WATER= natural coolant, prevents irritation

DIET -rice, wheat, oats -bottle gourd, pumpkin, ridge gourd -milk warm, not cold -diluted buttermilk non-sour -homemade food

AVOID -spicy food -pickles, vinegar -fried and oily food -tea,coffee, alcohol -smoking

LIFESTYLE CHANGES -do not hold urine -avoid long sitting -walk daily 20-30 min -avoid excessive sexual activity during healing phase -proper sleep

YOGA ASANAS -malasana -baddha konasana -pawanmuktasana -vajrasana after meals

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom -Sheetali/ sheetkari -deep breathing

AVOID -heavy weight lifitjng -excess abdominal pressure exercises

INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED If burning persists more than 7-10 days, get -Urine routine and microscopy -urine culture and sensitivity -blood sugar (FBS/PPBS)- if diabetic -USG KUB (if symptoms worse) This is to rule out UTI, which is common after TURP

ABOUT CURRENT MEDICINE (selotime-D) -continue as advised by urologist -do Not stop suddenly

EXPECTED IMPROVEMENT TIMELINE -burning reduces in 7-14 days -comfort improves in 3-4 weeks -completed urinar healing may take 3-6 months

-Your symptoms is common and manageable -It does not indicate a serious problem -Healing after TURP takes time -Ayurveda helps soothe, heal, and protect the urinary tract naturally

Consistency in medicine, diet, and lifestyle is the key

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
