Doctors' responses

Hlo,

You started estrogen patches to help with menopause, stress, and brain fog. At age 59, with a family history of breast cancer, it’s a good idea to reassess whether to continue. Estrogen can slightly increase breast cancer risk over time, especially if you have a family history.

What you can do: Talk to your doctor about continuing, tapering, or switching therapy. Keep up stress management: gentle exercise, meditation, good sleep.

Ayurvedic herbs that may help safely:

Ashwagandha – 500 mg/day at night with Luke warm milkfor stress

Shatavari – 250mg twice daily after meal for menopause support

Brahmi – 250 mg twice daily after meal for memory/clarity Lifestyle tips: warm oil massage, gentle yoga, warm milk with spices.

Estrogen patch has low risk, especially compared to estrogen pills. Your mother’s breast cancer history means you should be careful, not scared. At 59 years, it’s a good time to review whether you still need it. If symptoms are better, you can slowly reduce or stop under doctor guidance. If symptoms return badly, a very low-dose patch may still be okay. Do regular mammograms and checkups.
