Seeking Guidance on Menstrual Irregularities and Related Symptoms - #51830
22 years female with sudden change in menstrual pattern. She was on a cycle length of 24 days , but last month she suddenly had a delayed cycle and her period came after 35 days. After the delayed cycle, her next cycle has started in 15 days. Apart from this , she always has severe abdominal paln dring the first day of her cycle ( Although, this time with the short 15 day cycle, the pain was much tolerable). She went through an uterus ultrasound and blood work test one year ago and everything came back normal. Her prakriti is Vata mainly. Her digestive fire is very sharp ( Pitta). She digests food very fast and gets hungry very fast. She is lean and tall and does not gain weight. She has cold hands and feet and is prone to performance/ social anxiety. Her sleep is good. She has a tendency for constipation but is usually very careful with her diet ( eating vata/pitta favoring easy todigest, warm , rice / mung dhal/ veggie based sattvik food that is not hot spiced). With this diet, her BM happens almost everyday and sometimes twice. But, in the morning, it may not be easy and sometimes pebbles may come out. Afternoon BM is better. When she travels, she skips. She has sensitive digestion and gets gassy easily. Regarding menstruation, she had an early onset at 10 years. She had an elevated TSH of 9.5 at that time and she has been taking thyroid supplement of 50 mcg for many years now. the other symptom that has been on an off for 7 to 8 years is some boils on her scalp ( reddish ,no pus, but slight discharge from boil when its fresh). Shatadouta girtham seems to help when applied. the last 3 months have been very hectic with many academic and social commitments. last TSH reading from 6 months ago was in normal range. I am looking to 1. regularize her cycle 2.address the menses pain 3, address the sharp metabolism and allow for effective digestion and assimilation 4.prevent the scalp boils 5. reduce nervousness / stress 5. balance the pitta/ heat in her stomach and blocked apana vata and overall dosha balance i am considering 1) Sukumara Kwatha or gritha to regularize cycle and cool digestion ( is it ok to use now that her cycle has come very soon ?) 2)Saptasara kashaym to correct apana vata ( but not sure if its heating for pitta) 3) Manasamitra at night ( is Ashwagandha ok for her since she has autoimmune) 4. Tiktata kwatham for boils 5. ksheera bala capsule for nervous and muscle strength thanks Drs in advance!
