Namaste Shivani ji, Irregular menstrual cycles and a delay of 12 days indicate an imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas, which govern hormonal regulation and the menstrual flow. To restore your cycle and induce menstruation, Ayurveda emphasizes natural methods to balance these doshas. Start by taking Ashoka churna or Ashokarishta (2 teaspoons with equal water after meals) and Dashmoolarishta (15 ml with water twice daily), as they regulate hormonal function and promote timely periods. Additionally, a decoction of ginger and jaggery in warm water twice a day can help stimulate the uterine lining. Follow a sattvic diet, avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods that aggravate Pitta. Include warm foods like sesame seeds, ghee, papaya, and fenugreek seeds to promote flow. Practicing yoga asanas like Baddha Konasana and Malasana enhances pelvic circulation. Finally, ensure a regular sleep cycle and manage stress with Abhyanga (self-massage with sesame oil) and Shirodhara if stress is a major factor. If your period doesn’t start within a week or if irregularity persists, consult an Ayurvedic doctor for a personalized plan.

A delay in your period, especially if you've been experiencing irregular cycles over the past few months, could be due to several factors such as stress, hormonal imbalances, lifestyle changes, or other underlying conditions. Since your cycles have been irregular for the past few months, it may be a sign of a Vata dosha imbalance, which can disrupt the regular flow of menstruation. To help induce your period naturally, here are some Ayurvedic recommendations: Herbs to Induce Menstruation: Shatavari: Known to support reproductive health and balance hormones. Ashoka: Helps in regulating menstrual cycles and improving uterine health. Lodhra: Traditionally used to promote a healthy menstrual cycle and restore balance in the body. Warm Liquids: Drinking ginger tea and cinnamon tea can help stimulate circulation and promote the onset of your period. These herbs have warming properties that can support the body in releasing stagnation and stimulating menstruation. Diet: Follow a Vata-pacifying diet, which includes: Warm, cooked, and easily digestible foods such as soups, khichdi, and steamed vegetables. Incorporate ghee, sesame seeds, and dates, which are nourishing for the reproductive system and help balance Vata. Lifestyle Adjustments: Reduce stress: Practices like meditation, yoga, and pranayama (breathing exercises) can help calm your nervous system and reduce stress, which can impact your menstrual cycle. Adequate rest: Ensure you are getting enough sleep and avoiding over-exertion. If your period does not arrive in the next few days or if you're concerned about the delay, I recommend consulting a gynecologist or an Ayurvedic practitioner for a more personalized approach. Hormonal imbalances or conditions like PCOS may also affect your cycles, and a thorough consultation can help identify any underlying causes.

Experiencing irregular periods can surely be unsettling. When it comes to Ayurveda, we always look at imbalances within your doshas and what might be disrupting your natural rhythms. When your cycles are off like this, it often points to an imbalance of the Vata Dosha, which governs all movement in the body, or sometimes Kapha might be in play, adding to stagnation. Firstly, let's consider your lifestyle n see if recent changes might be influencing your cycle, like increased stress, workouts or even travel - anything that might disturb your routine. Ayurveda is all about balance in life n sometimes, things just tip over, you know? For a natural approach to regulate and induce your period, focus on foods that pacify Vata and support your reproductive system. Ginger tea can be quite helpful in this regard. Just boil a small piece of ginger in water, strain it, and drink 1-2 times daily. It warms you up from inside n stimulates blood flow. You could also take Hing (asafoetida) with warm water as it helps in balancing hormones n improves digestion which in turn can help with regularizing your cycle. Also, try to nourish yourself with cooked, warm, and lightly spiced meals, especially featuring carrots, beetroot, and dark leafy greens - which are rich in iron. Avoid cold and raw foods that can aggravate Vata and stick to regular meal timess to support your Agni (digestive fire). It may also help to incorporate yoga or gentle exercise into your routine, especially postures that target the lower abdomen. Poses like Malasana (Garland Pose) or Baddha Konasana (Butterfly Pose) come to mind. But hey, if things don't settle or get worse, don't take any chances n do reach out to a healthcare provider you trust, just to rule out other issues. Hope this helps set you back on track soon. Take care n be gentle with yourself.
