However, I’m curious about how it is traditionally described in Ayurveda. Does it have a cooling effect on the body, and how does it balance the doshas? I’ve also read that aloe vera is commonly used for soothing burns and cuts. The gooey gel inside aloe’s leaves has a lot going on. Yes, it does a bang-up job in soothing burns and cuts! Studies have shown that aloe vera speeds up wound healing— its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties are pretty compelling. As for fresh vs commercial, fresh is often preferred—it hasn’t been processed and retains more active compounds.

Aloe juice for digestion—you’re looking good there too. It can help with acidity, constipation, and detoxification, but moderation is key. Generally, about 2-4 tablespoons of fresh aloe juice on an empty stomach can be safe. Yet, overdo it, and its laxative effect can lead to cramps or diarrhea.
