how to use honey - #25410

I am really confused about how to use honey in my daily routine. For the past few months, I’ve been trying to improve my health, and I heard everyone talking about the benefits of honey. But I honestly don’t know where to start! Like, I tried adding it to my tea, but then I read some study that said maybe it loses its benefits if it's super hot? What is that about? Also, I’ve heard it can help with digestion and skin problems, but do I use honey in my smoothies, or directly on my face? It feels like there’s too much info out there and I’m kinda lost. My mom swears by raw honey, but then I see all these other kinds in the stores, like clover or Manuka—do they all work the same? And how to use honey, like, is there a special way? Should I be taking it every day? I really want to see some positive changes, but just worrying that I might be doing it wrong. Any tips or easy ways to integrate honey would be super helpful! Thanks!

When using honey as part of your daily routine, there are a few things to keep in mind to maximize its benefits. It’s true that honey loses some of its medicinal properties when it’s heated above 40°C, so adding it to hot tea might decrease its effectiveness. Let your drink cool a bit before adding honey.

To enhance digestion, you can incorporate honey into your diet by taking a teaspoon with warm water on an empty stomach. This helps stimulate the ‘agni’ (digestive fire) and supports digestion. In your smoothies, honey acts as a natural sweetener and boosts nutrient absorption. Choose raw or unprocessed honey, as it’s closer to its natural state and retains more beneficial enzymes.

Different types of honey, like Manuka, clover, or raw honey, do have unique compounds. Manuka, for example, is famous for its enhanced antibacterial properties, making it beneficial for specific conditions. Your mom’s preference for raw honey is excellent for daily use due to its purity and nutrient profile.

For skin benefits, honey’s moisturizing and antibacterial qualities make it effective for face masks. Apply a thin layer of raw honey directly to your face, leave for 10-20 minutes, then rinse. It can help with acne and keep skin hydrated.

As for the frequency, consuming honey daily can be beneficial, but moderation is key. Around one to two teaspoons a day, tailored to your health needs, should be adequate.

Overall, integrating honey in a balanced, mindful way, aligning with your dietary and skincare needs, can lead to positive changes over time. Adjust based on your body’s response, and consult with a healthcare provider if you are concerned about any allergies or specific health conditions.
