Ghee With Honey Mix Is Poison - #4054

So recently I came across a post about how ghee with honey mix is poison, and it got me thinking. I've been consuming this combination for a while now, and never really questioned it until now. I’ve heard different things about ghee and honey, and I was curious to see if there’s any truth to this idea that ghee with honey mix is poison. A little background on me - I’m in my early 30s and generally healthy. About six months ago, I started adding ghee to my daily diet because I read a lot about its benefits for digestion and skin health. I love it and have it with everything – coffee, toast, even in my smoothie. And for the past few months, I’ve been mixing a spoon of honey with it, as I read somewhere that it’s a natural boost to your energy levels. Honestly, I didn’t think much of it. A few weeks ago, I started noticing some discomfort after having my usual ghee and honey mixture. My stomach started feeling bloated, and I had occasional acid reflux. I just thought maybe I was eating too much or that my body was adjusting. But then I read this article online that said ghee with honey mix is poison, and I’m kind of freaking out. Could this be true? The post mentioned that mixing ghee and honey can cause digestive issues and even be toxic, which is the last thing I want. I’ve been feeling more sluggish lately, and I’m wondering if this is related to my ghee and honey mix routine. Is it really true that ghee with honey mix is poison? I’ve always thought of ghee as a very pure and healthy fat, and honey is supposed to be good for immunity, so how could it be harmful? Has anyone else experienced something similar after consuming ghee with honey together? I’ve heard that in Ayurveda, there are different rules about what can and can’t be combined. Is it possible that this combination could be bad for certain body types or health conditions? I read that Ayurveda advises against mixing certain foods, and ghee and honey might be one of them. But then, I also see a lot of people in my community swearing by it. I guess I’m just looking for some clarity here. If ghee with honey mix is poison, what should I do instead? Can I still use ghee and honey separately or do I need to avoid both? I’m really confused now, and I want to make sure I’m not doing anything harmful to my health. Also, what are the real benefits of ghee and honey individually? Can I continue enjoying both but in a different way or would it be best to stop altogether? Sorry for the long post, but I just want to get to the bottom of whether ghee with honey mix is poison or if it’s all just a misunderstanding. Would love to hear from anyone who has more experience or knowledge about this!

The idea that ghee and honey together are “poison” comes from a misunderstanding of Ayurvedic principles. While ghee and honey are both considered beneficial foods individually, they should not be consumed together in hot preparations or heated in excess. Ghee is warming and heavy, while honey is cooling and has a lighter, purifying effect. When combined in hot or heated forms, it can create a toxic substance called “visha” or poison, which can overwhelm the digestive system.

However, if consumed in moderation and under the right conditions (e.g., honey in its raw, unheated form with ghee), there shouldn’t be major issues. Cold or room temperature ghee with honey can be beneficial for soothing and nourishing the body, especially for those with a vata imbalance (dryness, coldness). For energy and digestion, consider using them separately in meals or with warm, grounding foods, rather than mixing them together.

If you’re experiencing bloating, acid reflux, or sluggishness, it could be a sign that the ghee-honey combination is not ideal for your body. You might want to consume them separately, with ghee in the morning and honey later in the day.

Hey, I totally get where you’re coming from! There’s been a lot of buzz around this ghee and honey mix thing, and it’s natural to want to figure out what’s going on with your health especially if you’ve been feeling off. So, in Ayurveda, it’s believed that certain food combinations may lead to imbalances. The classic texts often mention avoiding equal quantities of ghee and honey due to their opposite qualities. Ghee is cooling and honey is heating, so when consumed in equal parts at the same time, they might create some digestive issues.

It’s not “poison” in the you’re-gonna-drop-dead sense, but it could disrupt your digestion, leading to problems like bloating or sluggishness. Which sounds like what you’ve been experiencing. It’s great that you’re aware of your body’s signals, cuz they’re telling you something. If your discomfort started after consuming this mix, it might be good idea to pause it for now.

Now, individually, ghee and honey are indeed pretty beneficial! Ghee is amazing for digestion, skin glow, and even boosting immunity. It works well with warm foods, and you can continue enjoying it on your toast or in cooking. As for honey, it’s superb when it’s raw (not heated) and boosts your energy and immunity. Having it in warm water or with spices like cinnamon can be very invigorating.

So, why not try using them separately for a while? Spread ghee on your toast or in your meals, and drizzle honey over your fruits or have it in a warm drink. Pay attention to how your body reacts and any changes in your symptoms.

If these issues persist, it’s worth looking at the whole picture, like your diet or other possible triggers for your discomfort. And if you still feel concerned, consulting with a practitioner is your best bet – better safe than sorry, right? Keep listening to your body, and you’ll find what works best for you. Hope this helps you feel a bit less freaked out!
