Namaste Claudia,

I understand how distressing it can be to experience swollen veins, pain, and burning sensations, especially when compounded by circulation issues and hypertension. In Ayurveda, such symptoms are often linked to Vata and Pitta imbalances, leading to poor circulation, inflammation, and discomfort. Since you have a history of hypertension and menopause, your body may be undergoing Vata aggravation, which can weaken blood vessels and contribute to deep peripheral disorders. The absence of excess weight and your conscious diet choices are excellent, but we must focus on strengthening your circulatory system, reducing inflammation, and calming aggravated Vata and Pitta doshas.

To support your veins and circulation naturally, consider regular self-massage (Abhyanga) with warm sesame or mahanarayan oil, which nourishes blood vessels and improves blood flow. Herbal formulations like Punarnava, Arjuna, and Gotu Kola help strengthen veins and reduce swelling. Additionally, consuming warm, easily digestible foods while avoiding excessively cold or dry foods can help balance Vata. Since you avoid salt, ensure your body is still getting minerals like magnesium and potassium through foods like coconut water, soaked raisins, and sesame seeds, which also help maintain vascular health.

For relief from pain and burning, you can try soaking your legs in warm water infused with Dashmool decoction or Triphala. A gentle Yogasana routine with poses like Viparita Karani (legs-up-the-wall pose) and Baddha Konasana (butterfly pose) can significantly improve circulation and ease vein discomfort. Most importantly, managing stress through pranayama (especially Anulom Vilom and Bhramari) and meditation will help calm the nervous system and regulate blood pressure. If you’d like a more personalized herbal regimen, I’d be happy to guide you further. Wishing you balance and relief on your healing journey.

Namaste Claudia,
