For the past few months, I have been experiencing recurring ankle pain, especially after walking for long periods or standing for too long. Some days, the pain is mild, but on other days, my ankle feels stiff, swollen, and even a bit weak. It gets worse when I wake up in the morning, and after sitting for long hours, it takes a while for me to walk normally again. I am not sure what is causing my ankle pain because I haven’t had any major injuries. However, I do have a habit of walking barefoot at home on hard floors, and I tend to wear flat shoes with little support. Could improper footwear or posture be making my condition worse? Doctor, I want to know if Ayurveda offers a natural ankle pain treatment that can help reduce inflammation and strengthen the joints. Are there specific oils or herbal pastes that can be applied to relieve pain and stiffness? Also, are there any Ayurvedic exercises or stretches that can help improve mobility and prevent future injuries? I would also like to know if my diet could be affecting my ankle pain. Are there any foods that cause joint inflammation and should be avoided? Can Ayurveda help in long-term recovery so that I don’t keep experiencing this pain again and again? Namaste, In Ayurveda, recurring ankle pain, stiffness, and swelling can be linked to Vata imbalance and Ama (toxins) accumulation in the joints. Walking barefoot on hard floors and wearing unsupportive footwear may be worsening the condition by putting excessive strain on the joints.

To reduce pain and inflammation, Ayurveda recommends applying Mahanarayan oil or Dhanwantharam oil warm, massaging gently before bedtime, followed by a warm compress to improve circulation. A paste of Turmeric and Castor oil or Dashmool decoction can be applied to the ankle for pain relief and swelling reduction.
