trismus meaning - #18130
Doctor, I recently had a dental procedure done, and ever since then, I’ve been having difficulty opening my mouth properly. At first, I thought it was just temporary discomfort, but it hasn’t gone away even after a few weeks. I started looking into it and came across the term trismus. From what I read, trismus meaning refers to a condition where the jaw muscles become tight, making it hard to open the mouth fully. I’m really confused about what’s causing this. Could this be a side effect of the dental work, or is it related to stress and muscle tension? I also read that trismus can be caused by infections, nerve issues, or even temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems. How does Ayurveda explain this condition? Another thing I’m worried about is whether this will get worse if left untreated. Right now, I can eat, but it’s uncomfortable, and my jaw feels stiff all the time. Are there Ayurvedic remedies that can help relax the jaw muscles and reduce this stiffness? I read that Ashwagandha and Bala Tailam are good for muscle relaxation—would they help with trismus? Does Ayurveda have any oil massages, herbal treatments, or dietary changes that can help improve jaw mobility? Also, could this be linked to excess Vata in the body, since Ayurveda says Vata controls movement and muscle function? I really want to avoid invasive treatments if possible. Please advise on how I can manage trismus naturally and restore my jaw movement.
