Hi Mamoona,

I understand your concerns. Could you share a bit more about your periods—are they irregular, and do you experience any pain or heavy bleeding? How often do you feel fatigued, and do you notice any mood swings or changes in energy? Have you tried any treatments for acne or hair growth so far? Also, how is your sleep quality, and do you experience high levels of stress? Lastly, is there any family history of diabetes or insulin resistance?

Focus on a balanced diet rich in fiber and omega-3s, and consider herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari to help balance hormones. For your scalp issues, try using Tea Tree Oil or Amla to reduce dandruff and itching. Regular exercise can help manage weight and regulate hormone levels.

Yes I have a baby boy of 8 month now and it is a medicated pregnancy. Before my child I have irregular periods some time I don’t have periods for almost 5 months but after baby after 40 days of rest period I am having spoting almost every other day but having periods for 8 days properly now I am facing spoting pain in lower back abdomen and also heavy bleeding. Besides this I am facing seviur mood changes with fatigue and now I am gaining weight also I don’t try any treatment for scalp itching and acne I just use a face wash with salicylic acid that’s it some time I am very very energetic and some time I don’t want to get up from my bed I have five sisters and almost all of us have hormonal imbalance and PCOS but only I have hypothyroidism I am feeling insulin resistance as I have black patches around my neck and weight gain around my hips and lower belly I am a feeding mom.

In addressing the concerns you’ve shared, understanding the interplay of hypothyroidism and PCOS through an Ayurvedic lense is key. Both conditions can result from imbalances in doshas—and focusing on Kapha and Vata balance is often crucial.

Diet-wise, prioritize light, warm, and easily digestible foods to kindle your Agni (digestive fire). Include plenty of fresh vegetables, especially greens, and regulate your intake of dairy and processed foods, as they exacerbate Kapha. Opt for spices like turmeric, cumin, and fenugreek, which help boost metabolism. Avoid cold, heavy, and oily meals that can aggravate both conditions. Regular meals, ideally at the same time every day, will help stabilize your energy.

For lifestyle, consider integrating moderate, consistent exercise like yoga or brisk walking to help manage weight and balance hormones. If possible, practice yoga poses like Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose). Pranayama exercises, such as Anuloma-Viloma (alternate nostril breathing) can assist in calming the mind.

In terms of Ayurvedic treatments, take Triphala daily—it aids digestion and detoxifies the body, supporting overall balance. Apply Kumkumadi Tailam on your face to improve skin tone and texture. A gentle scalp massage with Neem oil can reduce itchiness and dandruff.

Herbs like Ashwagandha and Shatavari can be beneficial for hormonal balance. However, it’s critical to consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor these recommendations precisely to your constitution and health status.

Do monitor your condition regularly with a healthcare provider—thyroid and hormonal imbalances need careful long-term management. While Ayurveda offers wonderful adjunctive support, it should complement conventional treatment under professional guidance.
