Addressing fatty liver requires lifestyle adjustments and a focused approach to diet—especially since you’re experiencing both obesity and gallbladder stones, which contribute to acidity. In Ayurveda, the liver is closely tied to Pitta dosha. When aggravated, digestive issues and inefficiencies like you’ve described may occur.
Firstly, weight management is crucial. Aim to gradually lose weight, no more than 2-4 kg per month. Rapid weight loss can exacerbate liver stress. Start your day with warm water infused with a pinch of turmeric. This supports liver function and reduces inflammation.
Consider incorporating foods that are lighter and cooling. Focus on vegetables like cucumber, bitter gourd, and spinach. These can be gently cooked or consumed raw in salads. Avoid heavy, fried, and spicy foods as they increase Pitta and Kapha, aggravating acidity and fat accumulation. Instead, simple meals like moong dal khichdi (a light lentil dish) with some ghee will be nourishing yet gentle on the liver.
Sip on herbal teas throughout the day—like a concoction of coriander seeds and cumin—boil 1 teaspoon of each in water and drink once cooled slightly. This helps digestion and reduces acidity. Milk thistle is an Ayurvedic herb known to support the liver, and you might consider it in supplement form if possible.
Since apple cider vineger isn’t an option due to gallstones, try consuming a small piece of amla (Indian gooseberry) daily or use as a powder—amla helps not only in balancing acidity but also in lipid regulation.
Regular exercise is essential. Start with a brisk 20-minutes walk daily, gradually increasing as your body allows. Yoga postures such as Bhujangasana (Cobra pose) and Dhanurasana (Bow pose) can stimulate digestion and massage internal organs, though practice with caution if your physical condition allows.
Importantly, keep stress levels in check. Stress aggravates Pitta and impacts digestion. Simple breathing exercises like Anulom-Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) calms the mind and balances energy systems.
Regular medical check-ups are crucial, especially with the presence of gallstones, and ensure that you remain within safe health parameters while following these regimens. Always consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting supplements or if symptoms persist or worsen.
