Given the context you've described with radiation therapy post-tumor surgery, bowel issues like constipation and gas can be particularly troublesome. Firstly, since you are in a post-surgery and under medical treatment scenario, it's crucial to align any recommendations with your healthcare provider. In Ayurveda, constipation and gas are often linked to an aggravated Vata dosha, particularly Apana Vata which governs elimination. Addressing this requires balancing Vata through diet, lifestyle, and supportive remedies. Start with a Vata-soothing diet: opt for warm, cooked meals that are easy on the digestive system. Rice, oatmeal, and warm soups with ghee can help. Add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and cumin to your food; they aid digestion and reduce gas. Hydration is key – sip on warm water or herbal teas like ginger to keep things moving smoothly. Triphala churna is a classical Ayurvedic formulation, known for promoting bowel movements. A teaspoon mixed with warm water at bedtime might help, but consult your doctor to ensure there are no contraindications with your current treatment. Also, a tablespoon of castor oil with warm milk can be a gentle laxative, potentially useful once or twice a week. For your limited mobility, any gentle abdominal massage with warm sesame oil can stimulate peristalsis and release gas. Implement gentle seated or lying down yoga asanas like Pawanmuktasana to encourage flexibility and movement in limbs and digestive aid, with someone's assistance if necessary. Don't shy from seeking immediate medical attention if bowels don’t move or you experience severe discomfort. Considering the unique nature of your health condition and current treatments, professional guidance remains paramount. Balancing treatment, nutrition, and movement can gently support digestion during your recovery journey.
