OILY AND ROUGH FOREHEAD SKIN - #20467

Lucas Ochuodho

What could be wrong with my facial skin. It gets oily on the forehead and it is roughy with pimple-like swellings that are not itchy. I rarely use skin ointments but when I do then I use Nivea for men. I recently had h. Pylori positive test and was given some kit to use. I have also had a long history with stomach acids and indigestion

The presence of oily skin and rough texture on the forehead along with pimple-like swellings could be related to several factors, possibly linked with your digestive issues like the H. Pylori infection and stomach acids. In Ayurveda, the skin health is deeply connected with the balance of doshas, particularly Pitta and Kapha. Oli skin is often due to an imbalance of Pitta or Kapha in the body. The rough texture and swellings can imply a certain toxins, or ‘ama’, accumulation, resulting from improper digestion.

In your case, focusing on enhancing digestion is crucial. Consume warm drinks and warm, cooked meals to support your Agni, or digestive fire. Drinking herbal teas with cumin, coriander, and fennel after meals can help digestion and reduce Pitta. Avoid foods that are oily, spicy, and sour which may aggravate the condition.

Considering skincare, you might want to switch to a natural skincare routine. Cleansing your face twice daily with a gentle herbal wash containing ingredients like neem or sandalwood can help reduce oiliness and soothe the skin. Also, applying a mixture of turmeric and honey on the rough areas might bring some relief due to their antibacterial and soothing properties.

Since skin health reflects internal health in Ayurveda, and your digestive concerns are significant, it’s beneficial to address the internal cause. Regular detoxifying practices like a gentle weekly warm water fast, or a mono-diet focused on kitchari (a mung dal and rice dish) might be beneficial.

Never ignore persistent digestive issues, so follow up on your H. Pylori treatment, as it’s essential to clear any remaining underlying infections. And if symptoms persist or worsen, do consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner or dermatologist to get a more individual assessment. The advice here should align with supportive steps and not substitute urgent medical care if needed.
