Experiencing gas and bloating around your menstrual cycle is quite common and can be attributed to hormonal changes that affect digestion. Despite your careful diet choices like gluten-free and dairy-free, there can be underlying Ayurvedic factors contributing to your symptoms, such as an imbalance in your doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. In Ayurveda, bloating and gas are often linked to Vata dosha. To help balance this, you can start by incorporating warm, cooked foods into your diet. Foods like cooked vegetables, whole grains such as rice, and warm soups can be easier on your digestion during this time. Ghee, known for its Vata-balancing qualities, might be added to meals in moderation, helping to lubricate the intestines and ease digestion. Including certain spices like cumin, fennel, and ginger can also support digestion and reduce gas formation. You could try adding them to your dishes or drinking fennel tea. Just boil a teaspoon of fennel seeds in a cup of water, strain it, and savor warm. Yoga can also be very helpful. Poses such as the 'Pawanmuktasana' (wind-relieving pose) can naturally help release trapped gas from your system. Practicing gentle yoga daily or when you feel gassy might be beneficial. Pay attention to your eating routine as well. Eating slowly and mindfully ensures proper digestion and helps avoid the swallowing of excess air. Sipping on warm water throughout the day can also support proper circulation and digestion. For emotional relaxation, sitting peacefully in a quiet setting and practicing deep breathing can regulate stress and hence aid digestion, aligning Prana Vata. If the symptoms persist or worsens, it could be prudent to consult with a healthcare professional who understands your complete health history. While the advice here aligns with Ayurvedic practices, its always best to keep in touch with a healthcare provider for comprehensive support. Avoid self-medicating or making drastic lifestyle changes without guidance.
