Stomach ulcers, or peptic ulcers, often arise due to an imbalance in the digestive system, particularly when the protective mucous lining is compromised, sometimes because of H. pylori infection, NSAIDs, or stressful lifestyles. From an Ayurvedic perspective, ulcers could be tied to aggravated Pitta dosha – the fire principle associated with digestion and metabolism – affecting the stomach lining and beyond. First, it's crucial to manage the Pitta imbalance through diet and lifestyle. Try to consume cooling foods like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens while avoiding spicy, fried, and excessively hot foods as they can aggravate Pitta. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can also prevent overstimulation of digestive juices that exacerbate ulcers. Aloe vera juice can be soothing due to its cooling nature. Have around 20-30 ml, about half an hour before meals, twice daily. Also, turmeric, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, might be beneficial. You can mix half a teaspoon of turmeric with warm water or milk and consume it once a day. Considering UTI problems, they can sometimes muscularly refer pain to the back or abdomen, and it’s essential to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and perhaps add a teaspoon of coriander seeds into water, let it sit overnight, and drink that water the next day for its cooling properties and natural diuretic effect. It’s typically better to avoid caffeine, sugary sodas, or alcohol as these can irritate the bladder. Although omeprazole can offer gastric relief, some people might experience side effects. As you have been taking it for a month, it’s worth discussing with your physician if medication should continue or requires adjustment. Healing in Ayurveda is also about tuning the lifestyle. Practice stress-reducing activities like yoga or meditation to calm your mind, as excessive stress aggravates gastric issues. Rest is crucial – ensure you sleep adequately to allow your body to regenerate naturally. Remember, though Ayurveda offers various assistance, continue monitoring with your healthcare provider, especially for recurring or severe symptoms. Ulcers and UTI can be serious, so the integration of conventional medicine with Ayurveda should always be considered carefully in such cases.
