How to balance pH levels in vagina - #21271

Suraiya

I have been struggling with my vaginal smell for years now.i have tried most over the counter medicine for this reason and it just stays the same.I have a fishy smell that won't go away,I feel so embarrassed by this.i wash at least once a day and wash my vagina everytime I use the toilet .I have been to hospital and private doctors where they would give me an antibiotic or douche to wash the inside of to he vagina,I have also tried to use only odourless, unscented products down below.i have a feeling that I may have bv,I'm not actually sure what the symptoms are but there's got to be an answer to my problem, how do I know if I have bacterial vaginosis and what are the symptoms, pls help.

Vagina is self cleaning and doesn't requires washing often. So never use any soaps to wash vagina. Some lifestyle changes and medicines will cure your problem completely . As you have tried over the counter all type of medications,we can guide you with proper detailed consultation customised based on your prakriti.

It sounds like you're facing a persistent situation that could be certainly unsettling. While I can't diagnose your condition without a direct consultation, your description does resemble the symptoms commonly associated with Bacterial Vaginosis (BV). The fishy odor is one of the main giveaways of BV, along with thin, grayish-white discharge and sometimes itching or burning, although not everyone experiences these. If you suspect BV, seeing a healthcare professional is a wise step, especially if antibiotics and other treatments have not been effective long-term. It's possible that the vaginal flora is out of balance, affecting the pH levels, which is typically on the acidic side, around 3.8 to 4.5. In Ayurveda, achieving balance is pivotal, focusing on the prakriti and the body's doshic balance. Here are some specific recommendations: 1. **Dietary Adjustments:** Improving your diet is key. Avoid excess sugar and refined foods, which can disrupt the balance of good bacteria. Instead, prioritize fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. 2. **Probiotics:** Integrating probiotics into your routine could help restore vaginal flora. This includes consuming foods like yogurt, kefir,or fermented foods like sauerkraut. 3. **Hydration and Herbal Teas:** Drink adequate water to help flush out toxins. Herbal teas such as fennel or ginger tea—known for their digestive and cleansing properties—can be beneficial. 4. **Tripala**: This herbal blend is known for balancing doshas and might help with detoxification. Take it as directed by an Ayurvedic practitioner. 5. **Cleanse with Caution:** Over-cleaning or using douches can worsen the pH imbalance. Wash with plain water, and avoid putting any substances inside the vagina. 6. **Mindful Relaxation**: Practicing relaxation exercises, such as Yoga or meditation, can help reduce stress, inadvertently supporting overall health, including your vaginal health. Finally, consider setting up a comprehensive evaluation with a healthcare provider familiar with both conventional and Ayurvedic therapies for a more personalized approach. If the symptoms persist or worsen, immediate medical attention is essential to avoid further complications.
