It sounds like you’re facing persistent respiratory issues. In Ayurveda, prolonged coughs can be related to imbalances in the Kapha dosha, leading to mucus build-up and congestion. The key is to balance Kapha and support your respiratory system and digestion—often interlinked in Ayurvedic practices.

Firstly, consider incorporating steam inhalations at least once daily. Use boiling water with a few drops of eucalyptus oil or fresh tulsi leaves to soothe the respiratory tract and loosen mucus. Breathing in the steam can particularly address nose blocking issues by clearing nasal passages.

Dietary adjustments can make a significant difference too. Avoid cold, heavy, and oily foods that may aggravate Kapha. Opt instead for warm, easily digestible foods like soups and stews, seasoned with spices like ginger, black pepper and turmeric. These spices help break down mucus and promote drainage.

An ayurvedic remedy is a herbal tea made with ginger, tulsi, and a pinch of black pepper. Drink this twice a day—it helps boost your immune system and provides relief to your throat. Take Pippali powder (long pepper) mixed with honey each morning to strengthen lung functions.

Try Pranayama—breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom and Kapalbhati, that remove blockages and balance Kapha. Practice for about 10-15 minutes daily, preferably in the early morning.

Regular oil pulling with sesame or coconut oil can also improve your immunity and manage pH levels in the mouth, making it harder for infections to take hold.

If your symptoms persist, I recommend consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner who can evaluate your Prakriti and provide more personalized advice. Remember, it’s important to ensure your treatment aligns with your dosha balance and doesn’t interfere with any ongoing treatments.
