Addressing acne scars, especially those rooted in dormant acne, requires a personalized approach based on your unique prakriti (constitution) and dosha imbalances. In Ayurveda, skin issues often relate to excessive Pitta dosha and needs to balanced for healthy skin.

Firstly, let’s focus on the red marks, indicative of Pitta. A useful remedy is applying a paste made from Sandalwood and Rosewater. Sandalwood cools and has anti-inflammatory properties, while Rosewater tones the skin. Mix a teaspoon of Sandalwood powder with enough Rosewater to create a paste, apply to the affected areas, and leave for about 15-20 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.

For the black spots, indicative of deeper inflammation, using Turmeric might be beneficial. Known for its anti-inflammatory and skin-lightening properties, you can create a paste with Turmeric and honey. A pinch of Turmeric with a teaspoon of raw honey can be applied to the scars, and washed off after 20 minutes. Be mindful as Turmeric can stain the skin temporarily.

Diet plays a crucial role in managing Pitta. Consume more cooling foods like cucumbers, melons, and fennel. Avoid spicy foods, excessive caffeine, and processed sugars, as they can aggravate Pitta and breakouts. Drink plenty of water with a dash of lime for hydration.

In terms of lifestyle, practice meditation or yoga to relieve stress, as stress can ignite Pitta. Also, make sure you are sleeping well, it helps to flush excessive toxins (Ama) from your body.

One should not dismiss the importance of daily skin care. Use gentle, natural cleansers preferably containing Neem, which in Ayurveda is considered antimicrobial. Avoid harsh scrubs that can aggravate the skin further.

It’s always wise to consult a local Ayurvedic practitioner for a tailored regimen, given the complexity of your skin concerns. If necessary, a combination of Ayurveda and conventional dermatology may be advisable if scars don’t fade. Stay consistent with these practices, maintaining a balance will help your skin heal naturally over time.
