can we drink coconut water in fever - #24129

I am feeling really confused about whether we can drink coconut water in fever. Last week, I got hit with this awful flu – fever, chills, the whole package. My mom kept telling me to stay hydrated and told me that drinking coconut water is super healthy. But then I heard somewhere that maybe it's not great when you're running a high temp? I honestly don’t know who to believe! Like, I was really craving it, thinking it might help since it’s packed with electrolytes and all that. Yesterday, I bought a couple of coconuts, but now I’m doubtful. My throat’s been dry, and I even did some tests to check for dehydration, they came back fine but still, fever was dancing around 101°F for a couple of days. Can we drink coconut water in fever, or should I stick to plain water? I mean, anyone else gone through this? I just want to feel better! Would love any advice on this – thanks!!!

Ensure the coconut water is fresh and not from a can with added sugars or preservatives, those could impact your body in unpleasent ways.

Drinking coconut water is not a replacement for regular water. You can alternate between the two to ensure that you are getting adequate hydration and not solely depending on coconut water. While coconut water is good, plain water also plays a vital role in flushing out toxins and maintaining proper hydration levels.

Since your throat feels dry, you might also consider sipping on warm herbal teas like ginger or tulsi, which have properties that support the respiratory system and help in reducing fever. And definitely, keep a check on your overall fluids intake, you don’t want to over do any one thing when feeling unwell!

Remember, if your fever continues to linger around 101°F for more than a few days without improvement or starts rising, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional. It’s important to rule out any underlying illness that may require more than just hydration to treat effectively. Staying cautious with your health ensures balanced healing which Ayurveda strongly emphasizes upon.
