At the age of 46, maintaining healthy vision is common concern often related to age-related changes and lifestyle factors. In Ayurveda, eyesight is primarily associated with the Pitta dosha. To improve your eyesight naturally and safely through Ayurvedic practices, let's delve into some specific recommendations tailored to your lifestyle. Firstly, addressing dietary habits is crucial. As a vegetarian, ensure you're consuming foods rich in Vitamin A, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, and bell peppers. These provide necessary nutrients for eye health. Additionally, adding sources of Omega-3 fatty acids, like flaxseeds and walnuts, may be beneficial. Hydration is key, as Pitta imbalances often relate to dryness. Drink sufficient water throughout the day, but try warm water with a few drops of lemon early morning to help cleanse and rejuvenate the system. Reduce excessive intake of oily, spicy, and salty foods, as they can aggravate Pitta dosha. Now, about Ayurvedic eye drops, Triphala eye drops are renowned for their ability to nourish and cleanse the eyes. Apply one to two drops in each eye twice daily, preferably in the morning and before bedtime. Also consider regular eye exercises like palming and focusing on distant objects to strengthen eye muscles. Involving relaxation techniques such as Shirodhara and specific yoga poses like Trataka could also enhance ocular health. Sit calmly and focus on a candle flame placed a few meters infront of you. This practice can help improve concentration and relax eye muscles. Remember to get regular eye check-ups to monitor any changes in your vision. If your symptoms persist or worsen, do consult with an eye specialist to ensure there aren’t any underlying conditions needing immediate medical attention. Avoid excessive screen time, take regular breaks, blink frequently, and ensure proper lighting in the room. With these Ayurvedic practices and lifestyle changes, you may see improvement in your eyesight gradually.
