Based on your description, it sounds like you’re experiencing persistent tonsilitis or swelling in that area. In Ayurveda, such a condition might be linked to imbalances in the Kapha dosha, which governs the body’s immune system and lymphatic tissues. An over accumulation of Kapha can lead to mucous build-up and inflammation, which could explain the recurrent swelling near your larynx.

First, examine your diet and lifestyle. Avoid dairy products, cold foods, and excessively sweet, salty, and oily foods, which can aggravate Kapha. Focus on warming spices like ginger, cumin, and turmeric, to boost your agni and reduce mucous. Incorporate them into your meals daily. Freshly grated ginger tea (just a teaspoon with a cup of hot water) can be taken with honey two to three times a day.

Try performing oil pulling by swishing 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in your mouth every morning before brushing your teeth, for 10 to 15 minutes. This act can balance Kapha and support oral health. Follow it by a gentle warm saline gargle, which you might already be familiar with, as it reduces swelling and removes toxins.

Additionally, practice Pranayama with breathing exercises like Bhastrika (Bellows Breath) or Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing) to increase respiratory circulation and promote balance in respiratory systems. Devote 10 minutes each day to these exercises to feel their benefits over time.

It’s also vital to maintain overall hydration, get adequate rest, and de-stress with regular yoga or meditation practice. These lifestyle practices help maintain balance within your body’s systems.

However, if the tonsil persists or worsens, it’s essential to consult an ayurvedic practitioner or doctor for a precise diagnosis and personalized treatment plan. Recurrent conditions might sometimes indicate underlying issues that require more direct medical intervention.

Given the recurrent nature of the swelling near your larynx, it’s important to consider both immediate relief and long-term prevention. This kind of issue may point towards imbalances in your body’s systems from an Ayurvedic perspective. It seems you might be dealing with a kapha dosha imbalance, which can lead to mucous build-up and potentially block the energy channels (nadis).

Firstly, for immediate relief, continue with the warm water gargles as they help in soothing the throat and clearing excess mucus. You can enhance the effectiveness by adding a pinch of turmeric and salt to the water before gargling, as turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.

For long-term management, introduce certain lifestyle changes that can help balance your kapha. Adopting a kapha-pacifying diet can be beneficial. This would mean eating warm, light, and easily digestible foods. Spices like black pepper, ginger, and cumin can help stimulate the agni (digestive fire) and reduce mucous production.

Regular exercise, particularly yoga and meditation, can also be quite beneficial in balancing doshas and improving overall energy flow. Aim for gentle yoga poses that encourage lymph drainage, particularly around the neck and throat areas.

On a herbal front, consider “Trikatu” powder, a blend of black pepper, long pepper, and dried ginger. This can be taken with honey once daily to enhance digestion and clear respiratory passages, but please consult a practitioner for specific dosing.

However, if the tonsil continues to recur, it could be indicative of an underlying health issue that requires further investigation. It would be prudent to consult your healthcare provider to rule out any persistent throat or thyroid issues. It’s crucial to seek immediate medical attention if you notice any difficulty in breathing or swallowing, as these could be signs of a more severe condition.
