HELLO SHASHI,

WHAT IS A FIBROID? -Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus (womb). They are like extra lumps of muscle tissue -Size in your case: 20 mll. This is small to moderate, but since it causes pain and heavy bleeding, it is symptomatic

WHY HEAVY BLEEDING? -fibroid irritates the uterine lining-> uterus contracts more-> bleeding increases

WHY ANEMIA (Hb = 8) -Because of continuous heavy bleeding, iron is lost-> hemoglobin drops-> weakness, fatigue, dizziness

WHY VITAMIN B12 and D deficiency? -Poor absorption, dietary habits, less sunlight, and chronic blood loss worsen it.

DOCTOR’S SUGGESTION (surgery)= removing uterus (hysterectomy) is the quickest solution in modern medicine

AYURVEDIC VIEW -This condition is called Garbhahaya arbuda/granthi caused by imbalance of vata and kapha with pitta aggravation, leading to abnormal tissue growth and heavy bleeding

TREATMENT GOALS -control heavy bleeding-> prevent further anemia -Shrink or stabilize fibroid growth-> prevent surgery if possible -correct anemia and deficiencies -> improve Hb, energy, immunity -balance hormones and regulate menstrual cycle -improve overall health-> digestion, stress, sleep, bone strength

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) KANCHANAR GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =main medicine for fibroids, cysts, tumors, reduces extra growth

2) ASHOKARISHTA= 20 ml with equal water twice daily after meals =regulate menstrual cycle, reduces heavy bleeding, strengthens uterus

3) PUNARNAVADI MANDUR= 2 tabs twice daily after meals =improves hemoglobin, reduces swelling, supports liver and blood formation

4) LODHRA CHURNA= 3gm with honey twice daily =controls bleeding, cooling effect, tones uterus

5) PRAVAL PISHTI= 125mg with honey twice daily =natural calcium reduces burning, stops excessive bleeding

6) DHATRI RASAYANA= 1 tsp daily in morning =rejuvenates, improves immunity, helps in vitamin C absorption (Iron absorption)

EXTERNALLY/ PANCHAKARMA ADVISED -UTTAR BASTI= medicated oil instilled in uterus= with Ashoka taila= helps shrink fibroid= under expert -VIRECHANA= balances pitta reduces heavy bleeding -BASTI = nourishes reproductive organs, balances vata

DIET -green leafy vegetables= spinach, drumstick leaves, methi -Iron-rich foods= pomegranate, beetroot, black sesame, raisins, jaggery -Milk, ghee in moderation, dates, figs -Moong dal, whole grains, seasonal fruits -Early dinner, good hydration

AVOID -sour, spicy, oily, fried foods -excess salt, pickles, fermented food, bakery items -red meat, alcohol, smoking -stress, late nights, excessive physical exertion

YOGA ASANAS -supta baddha konasana -setu bandhasana -viparita karani -balasana =improves pelvic circulation, reduces congestion

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom -bhramari -sheetali =reduce stress, balances hormones

AVOID= strenuous exercise during bleeding days

HOME REMEDIES -Pomegranate juice + mishri= improves Hb and controls bleeding -Soaked raisins (black) + dates in morning= natural iron boost -Aloe vera juice + pinch of turmeric= reduces inflamamtion -Warm water with lemon = helps in digestion and iron absorption

INVESTIGATIONS -HB%= every month until stable -Ultrasound pelvis= every 6 months to check fibroid size -Vitamin B12 and D levels= recheck after 3 months of therapy -LFT/KFT

-Your condition is manageable with Ayurveda but requires patience 3-6 months minimum -First priority is to control bleeding and increase Hb -Once strength improves medicines and panchakarma can help shrink/stabilize the fibroid -If despite treatment, bleeding remains uncontrolled or Hb keeps dropping-. surgery may be safest. -with the right approach diet + lifestyle + ayurvedic medications, many women manage fibroids without surgery

DO FOLLOW

HOOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

Hello Shashi ji, Thank you for sharing your details. You are 44 years old with a 20 mm uterine fibroid, heavy bleeding, anemia (Hb 8), and Vitamin B12 & D deficiencies.

In Ayurveda, management aims at - 1. Controlling excessive bleeding (Raktastambhana). 2. Reducing fibroid size and preventing regrowth. 3. Correcting anemia and deficiencies. 4. Improving overall strength and avoiding unnecessary surgery if possible.

✅AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

☑️ FOR HEAVY BLEEDING 1 Ashokarishta 30ml-0-30ml with equal water after food

2 Pradarantak Lauh 1-0-1 after food – to control bleeding & improve Hb.

☑️FOR FIBROID SHRINKAGE & Hormonal Balance

1 Kanchanara Guggulu 1-0-1 after food – classical medicine for uterine fibroids & cysts.

2 Varunadi Kashya 15ml-0-15ml +45 ml water – helps regulate growths and balances Kapha.

☑️For Anemia & Deficiencies

1 Punarnava Mandur 1-0-1 after food – for hemoglobin improvement.

Include natural iron-rich foods – black raisins, dates, jaggery, sesame seeds, leafy greens.

For Vitamin B12 & D – exposure to morning sunlight, sprouted grains, milk, and consider supplements if required.

During menses you can start with Heavy bleeding medications and other days of cycle use fibroid shrinkage meducation

✅ DIET AND LIFESTYLE

Prefer warm, light, easily digestible food.

Avoid excess dairy, refined flour, junk, and deep-fried foods (which increase Kapha).

Stress management is essential – daily pranayama helps hormonal balance.

✅ WHEN SURGERY IS NEEDED

If bleeding is uncontrolled despite medicines. If Hb keeps dropping severely. If fibroid grows rapidly or causes unbearable pain/pressure symptoms.

Start Ayurvedic medicines for bleeding control + fibroid regression + anemia correction.

Continue monitoring fibroid size & Hb levels with your gynecologist

Surgery can be kept as last option, but with proper Ayurvedic management, many women are able to stabilize and avoid immediate hysterectomy.

Wish you a Good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Considering the specifics of your case, the presence of a 20 mm fibroid in the uterus together with haemoglobin deficiency of 8, and deficiencies in vitamin B12 and D, requires a methodical approach through Ayurvedic lens in tandem with allopathic considerations. While surgical intervention has been suggested, integrating Ayurveda can offer complementary pathways to support overall well-being.

Firstly, focusing on improving haemoglobin levels is essential. Ayurveda suggests incorporating iron-rich foods such as black sesame seeds, raisins, dates, and green leafy vegetables which are beneficial in this context. Drink a glass of pomegranate juice daily as it supports blood building in the body. Chyawanprash, a traditional Ayurvedic preparation, could be an excellent addition to help with nourishment and boosting hemoglobin.

For vitamin deficiencies, exposure to early morning sunlight can enhance vitamin D levels naturally. Consume a diet rich in B12, focusing on foods such as fermented foods or if non-vegan, consider including dairy and eggs cautiously if they suit your dosha balance.

Considering fibroids, balancing hormones and reducing inflammation is key. Ashoka (Saraca indica) and Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa) are herbs renowned in Ayurveda for female reproductive system support. Taking these under guidance can offer beneficial effects.

Engage in regular gentle yoga asanas like Gomukhasana and Bharadvajasana to help manage stress and promote circulation.

Ensure that you collaborate with your current healthcare provider to regularly monitor your condition and symptoms. If symptomatology suggests acute conditions such as severe pain or excessive bleeding, do reconsider immediate conventional intervention as prioritized by your physician.

When dealing with uterine fibroids, especially when they cause significant symptoms like pain and heavy bleeding, it’s crucial to consider all options, including surgical. However, from an ayurvedic perspective, managing blood building, hormonal balance, and overall strength can improve overall well-being.

For the haemoglobin deficiency, incorporating iron-rich foods such as leafy greens, beetroots, and figs into your diet can be beneficial. You could also consider ashwagandha and triphala, known for enhancing vitality and digestive fire, thereby improving absorption of nutrients, potentially boosting haemoglobin levels effectively.

Vitamin B12 deficiency might be a bit harder to tackle with diet alone, especially in vegetarian diets common in Ayurvedic tradition. In such cases, consult with a nutritionist or your healthcare provider about supplementation, as B12 primarily comes from animal products.

For vitamin D, getting sunlight exposure early in the morning is recommended. Alternatively, including foods like fortified cereals, dairy products, or supplements might be necessary, depending on your lifestyle.

For the fibroid itself, ayurvedic herbs such as kanchanara guggulu and manjistha might help manage symptoms, focusing on balancing the doshas and aiding in detoxification. These herbs support clearing kapha and pitta imbalances which are often involved in such growth tendencies.

Nevertheless, considering surgical recommendations is essential, particularly in cases where significant health impacts like anemia are noted. Continue to work closely with your healthcare provider to integrate supportive measures alongside any necessary medical interventions. Always ensure a thorough dialogue about any complementary approaches you wish to undertake.
