Hair fall can be an overwhelming issue, often linked to various factors like diet, stress, and lifestyle habits. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, we believe imbalances in doshas – particularly vata and pitta – can contribute significantly to hair thinning and loss. Stress, as you mentioned, can aggravate these imbalances, so addressing that is important for strengthening your hair structurally from the inside out.
Firstly, focusing on internal nourishment through diet can make a profound difference. Try to include a balanced intake of proteins, healthy fats, and iron-rich foods. Skipping meals and inadequate hydration may under nourish the sapta dhatus (seven tissue systems), so establishing regular eating habits and drinking enough water can support your hair’s strength and shine.
Herbs like amla and bhringraj are indeed beneficial. Amla can be taken as a supplement to cleanse the blood and boost immunity, helping rejuvenate hair follicles, while bhringraj oil can be massaged into the scalp to reduce hair fall and control dandruff issues. Use bhringraj oil 2-3 times a week, leave it on for at least an hour before washing off.
Incorporating a stress-relieving practice into your routine, such as yoga or meditation, is beneficial. For busy schedules, practicing deep breathing for even five minutes daily may help balance stress levels, indirectly aiding hair health.
Lastly, a full routine is ideal; however, start with manageable changes. Simple dietary additions and topical applications can be a good start. If hair loss continues to worsen, a deeper exploration with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner may be warranted to pinpoint specific imbalances and tailor a precise treatment plan.
