Using olive oil on your hair can indeed be beneficial, especially if you’re dealing with dryness and split ends. In Siddha-Ayurvedic practices, oils play a crucial role in nourishing the scalp and hair. Olive oil is rich in healthy fats and antioxidants, which can be quite nourishing to hair, helping hydrate and repair damaged cuticles.
When you apply olive oil, focus on the correct method and amount to avoid your hair getting greasy. Begin by warming 2-3 tablespoons of oil, as warm oil penetrates better than cold. Massage gently into your scalp using your fingertips, and work it down through the lengths of your hair, especially where it’s dry and damaged. Leave it in for about 30 to 60 minutes, then wash it out with a mild shampoo. You can do this treatment once a week.
For enhanced benefits or if you want to balance the oil’s heaviness, you might mix olive oil with lighter oils such as coconut or almond oil.
