She is on Eliquis a powerful blood thinner . is there any Ayurvedic medicines that can be safely used to prevent fluid buildup and make her heart strong too. I am scared that too much lasik will effect her kidney functions in longer run .. Also thinking about conflict of Ayurvedic medications with a Eliquis. Pls advise

Can you share her recent reports ?? Fluids in lungs might be due to overload as you are telling she is in CCf N having kidney issues But you are telling that fluid has removed couple of times that means pleural effusion, so that fluid was sent for any analysis?? How is her daily activity, Uop, appetite sleep bowel habits ?? If you share her reports or bit elaborately I can guide you properly

Yes pleural effusion. No growth or infection found in the fluid. She has been in hospital for 2 months now. Was intubated . Had AFib and ARDS. Her right lung is clear . It’s mostly her left lung which is not clearing up. She has a diagnose for Congestive heart failure. She has gastric food pipe now because she was aspirating earlier . Now can eat puréed food and thickened liquids. Had dementia. Bowel movement is good . Is on Miralex

How is her present creatinine and her uop??

Congestive heart failure and fluid buildup in the lungs are serious medical conditions requiring careful management. When it comes to integrating Ayurvedic solutions, it’s crucial to prioritize safety and make sure that ayurvedic treatments do not interfere with current medications like Eliquis, which is important for preventing blood clots. Always work closely with healthcare providers before starting any new treatments.

In Ayurveda, fluid retention, heart weakness, and their related symptoms can often be linked to dosha imbalances, particularly Kapha and sometimes Vata. However, due to the complexity of your mother’s condition, professional medical guidance is essential. Here are a few general Ayurvedic recommendations, but please consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner who can tailor to your mothers unique condition:

1. Dietary Suggestions: Focus on a light, Kapha-pacifying diet. Avoid cold, heavy, and oily foods. Prefer warm, cooked foods, limiting salt intake to reduce fluid retention. Increase intake of ginger and garlic, known for their warming properties and potential to support cardiovascular health.

2. Herbs: While specific herbs might offer support, caution is key. Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna), traditionally known for heart health, might be considered, yet it’s vital to assess any interactions with Eliquis. Consider consulting a professional before introducing any herbs.

3. Lifestyle Adjustments: Gentle yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises) may help support cardiovascular health and manage stress, but ensure these are appropriate for her current health status.

4. Therapies: Panchakarma, the detoxification therapy, may balance doshas but should not be attempted without specialist guidance in light of her heart condition.

Always communicate with her cardiologist about any new therapies or dietary changes alongside Ayurvedic treatments ensuring there are no contraindications and that overall care remains coordinated and holistic. It’s essential to prioritize her safety and combine both medical sciences wisely.

Navigating congestive heart failure with fluid buildup is serious, and your concern about your mom’s well-being is understandable. It’s crucial to work closely with her healthcare team, as managing such a condition often requires a delicate balance of treatments. In an Ayurvedic context, we can explore supportive measures that may help, but they should not replace her current care plan.

Firstly, focus on supporting her heart health through dietary and lifestyle practices rather than introducing multiple new medications. Particular foods and herbs like Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna), which is renowned in Ayurveda for cardiac wellness, could be supportive. However, since she’s on Eliquis, any herb that can affect blood clotting, including Arjuna, should be approached cautiously. Always consult her healthcare provider before adding anything new to ensure there’s no interference with her blood thinners.

To address fluid buildup, Ayurveda emphasizes balancing the Kapha dosha, which is often associated with fluid retention. Simple dietary adjustments such as reducing salt intake, emphasizing warm and spiced foods (like ginger and turmeric), and avoiding processed foods may help manage fluid levels naturally.

You should be cautious with diuretic herbs though, given her kidney function concerns and the current prescription of Lasix. These could complicate her condition or interact with her treatment. Ensure all supplements or herbs are discussed with her doctor.

Yoga and deep breathing exercises, recommended under professional guidance, can also support her heart and lung function, improving overall well-being.

Approach every new suggestion with care, considering her specific medical needs and existing treatment. The priority is ensuring her safety and supporting her body in line with her prescribed care. Always keep communication open with her healthcare professionals for any integrative approach.
