Sudden hair loss, especially when it comes out in noticeable amounts, can be concerning. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, such a condition is often related to an imbalance of the doshas, particularly Pitta. Pitta dosha, when aggravated, can lead to an increase in heat within the body, adversely affecting hair health and leading to symptoms like hair fall. While stress and dietary factors you mentioned could indeed be contributers, it’s crucial to address these imbalances holistically.
First, focus on cooling down your system and balancing Pitta. Begin by incorporating Pitta pacifying foods into your daily diet – foods that are naturally cooling, like cucumbers, melons, and coconut water, will be beneficial. Avoid excessive consumption of spicy, oily, and fried foods which can further aggravate Pitta.
For direct hair care, using herbal oils can be quite therapeutic. Bhringraj oil is traditionally used in Ayurveda for its ability to nourish the scalp and balance the doshas. Massaging the scalp gently with bhringraj oil at least twice a week before bed can stimulate the hair follicles, improve circulation, and help reduce hair fall over time.
Additionally, internal cleansing can be helpful in some cases to remove any built-up toxins (ama) causing imbalance. Consuming a teaspoon of triphala powder mixed with warm water at night may aid digestion and support detoxification.
While these approaches can be implemented safely, if your hair fall continues without improvement, follow up with a healthcare provider as it may indicate underlying issues that require a customized evaluation. Sudden hair fall can sometimes signal deficiencies not always identified in standard tests, or issues that aren’t solely dietary or stress-related. Keep monitoring your progress and make adjustments as needed.
