Hair loss and dandruff can indeed be problematic, often rooted in imbalances of the doshas, particularly Pitta and Vata. Addressing these issues involves not only topical treatments but also internal balancing and lifestyle adjustments. Start by incorporating a diet rich in cooling and hydrating foods like cucumber, coconut water, and amla, which help manage Pitta. Stress can exacerbate hair loss, so incorporating pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation in your routine can significantly reduce stress levels.

For dandruff, try massaging warm coconut or sesame oil into your scalp before washing. Adding a few drops of neem oil can enhance its antifungal properties, effectively targeting dandruff. Leave the oil for at least 30 minutes before washing with a mild herbal shampoo. Regular oiling nourishes the scalp and balances Vata. Limit usage of chemical-laden shampoos.

Regarding blackheads, focus on maintaining a clean and healthy inner environment to reduce the appearance of blackheads externally. Drink warm water throughout the day to aid digestion and prevent accumulation of toxins, known as ‘ama.’ Topically, consider using a paste of chickpea flour and turmeric with a little rose water, applying it to the nose and chin areas. Gently rub in circular motions and wash off after 10 minutes, doing this routine twice a week to gently exfoliate and cleanse the skin.

Avoid heavy, oily, and junk foods, which can disrupt your digestive fire, agni, and lead to skin issues. Regular exercise helps maintain proper circulation and detoxification, assisting in managing both hair and skin problems.
