is multani mitti good for acne - #40034

Henry

I am really struggling with acne lately, and I've been looking for natural remedies. A friend mentioned that is multani mitti good for acne? I’ve heard about its benefits but honestly, I’m a bit skeptical. Last month I tried a few products but they just made my skin worse. It got super dry and irritated, unlike what I expected!! Even after visiting a dermatologist, nothing seemed to really work. My skin is oily, and I sometimes get those painful cystic spots that take forever to go away. I just don’t know how to manage it anymore - I want to find something that helps without all the harsh chemicals. I read that is multani mitti good for acne and can help absorb excess oil, but will it really clear my skin? I've seen mixed reviews online, some say it worked wonders, others claim it didn’t do much. Also, is it safe to use it regularly?? Like, do I mix it with rose water or just use it plain?? I’m a bit worried cause I don’t wanna mess things up more. Any honest advice would be super helpful!

Multani mitti, also known as “Fuller’s Earth,” is indeed a traditional remedy often used in Ayurveda for various skin concerns, including acne. It’s particularly beneficial for oily skin due to it’s excellent absorbent properties which help to remove excess oil, cleanse pores, and reduce inflammation. For someone like you with oily skin prone to cystic acne, multani mitti can be an effective part of a comprehensive skin care regimen.

To incorporate multani mitti into your routine, it’s best to use it once or twice a week. You can mix it with rose water, which helps in calming the skin, and creates a pasteable consistency that’s soothing. Apply the paste evenly to your face, avoiding the sensitive areas around the eyes and mouth. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes until it dries, then rinse off with lukewarm water. Make sure to apply a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer afterward as multani mitti can be drying if overused.

It’s important to note, while multani mitti is beneficial, it’s not a standalone cure for acne, especially for stubborn, cystic types. Your skin requires a holistic approach—consider dietary changes like reducing dairy and sugary foods that often trigger acne, drink plenty of water, and maintain a balanced sleep schedule.

In Ayurveda, acne can also be linked to imbalances in Pitta dosha, so consider incorporating cooling foods like cucumbers and cilantro in your diet. Yoga and pranayama can again help in reducing stress, a known acne aggravator.

Bear in mind using multani mitti too frequently can lead to dryness and irritation particularly if your skin is already sensitive from other treatments. It’s always advisable to do a patch test first. If at any point your acne persists or worsens, especially if accompanied by severe irritation, seeking professional medical advice is crucial. Balancing natural remedies with conventional treatments can provide a more comprehensive approach to managing your acne.
