Scalp psoriasis usually does not improve with shampoo alone because the issue is deeper- pitta vata imbalance, heat in blood and dryness of the scalp You need internal + external treatment together You can start on Kayakalpa vati-one tablet, twice daily with warm water before meals Kaishore guggulu Neem capsule One tablet twice daily after food with warm water Mahamanjistadi aristha 4 teaspoon with equal amount of water twice daily after food Kayakalpa taila -apply at the patches area If flakes are very thick, then apply Mahamarichyadi tailam once or twice a week only on the patches Do not use excessive shampoo again, it may increase the dryness Reduce red chilli, tomato, curd, fried food bakery, alcohol Include Ghee in diet Drink warm water throughout the time Avoid late night Include Amla pomegranate moong dalthe leafy greens

Scalp psoriasis can be quite challenging, and an Ayurvedic approach aims at addressing it from the root cause by focusing on the balance of doshas, particularly Pitta and Kapha. It’s essential that this approach considers dietary habits, a balanced lifestyle, and proper use of herbs and oils. Let’s dive into some practical, actionable suggestions that align with Ayurveda’s holistic view:

1. Dietary changes: Start by reducing Pitta-aggravating foods. These include spicy, salty, and fermented foods, which exacerbate inflammation. Instead, opt for a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, especially those with bitter and astringent tastes like leafy greens and gourds. Hydration is key; drink plenty of lukewarm water throughout the day.

2. Herbal Remedies: Consider using herbs like Neem, known for its anti-inflammatory and blood-purifying properties. You can take it in powder form or, for easier consumption, in capsule form. Turmeric is another beneficial herb, with curcumin providing strong anti-inflammatory effects. However, for both Neem and turmeric, consult a professional for exact dosages suited to you.

3. Scalp oil massage: A weekly oil massage using medicated oils such as ‘Kumkumadi Tailam’ or ‘Bhringraj Oil’ can help soothe the scalp. Warm the oil slightly and apply it gently onto your scalp; leave it for an hour or overnight before washing off with a mild herbal shampoo.

4. Stress management: Psoriasis can be significantly impacted by stress. Practice stress-reducing activities like yoga or meditation daily. Breathing exercises such as ‘Nadi Shodhana’ (alternate nostril breathing) can help stabilize Pitta and alleviate stress.

5. Lifestyle adjustments: Avoid excessive heat exposure like hot showers and direct sunlight, which can aggravate the symptoms. Instead, aim for a balanced routine that includes adequate sleep and relaxation.

Implement these suggestions consistently over a few months to see improvement. If condition persists, consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to get a personalized treatment plan, ensuring all factors of your health are considered.
