Addressing pityriasis and eczema through Ayurveda involves balancing the body’s doshas, particularly focusing on Pitta and Kapha imbalances, which often manifest as skin issues. Here are some practical steps you can consider:

First, dietary adjustments are essential. Encourage your teenager to consume a Pitta-calming diet which includes cooling foods. Incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables, especially those like cucumber, melons, and avocados. Decrease spicy, oily, and fried foods as these can aggravate Pitta. Instead, opt for more cooling herbs. (coriander, mint) Adding cooling herbs such as. Additionally, avoiding food that contain artificial additives or high in sugar can help reduce eczema flare-ups.

Hydration is critical, so ensure that your teen drinks plenty of water throughout the day. Coconut water is particularly effective due to its cooling properties.

Turmeric is renowned for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. You might consider giving your teen a glass of warm milk infused with a pinch of turmeric before bedtime; it can aid in healing from the inside out.

Topically, you can create a simple paste using sandalwood powder mixed with rose water and apply it to the affected areas. This combination can help soothe the skin and reduce inflammation. After 20-30 minutes, rinse it off gently with lukewarm water.

Regular oil massage with neem oil can also be beneficial due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Apply it gently on skin and let it remain for about 20 minutes before taking a bath.

Stress is often a hidden factor that worsens skin conditions. Encourage your teen to engage in activities that promote relaxation, such as yoga or meditation. This can help in managing stress levels and contribute positively to their overall skin health.

Lastly, maintaining a routine and regular sleep pattern can greatly augment the healing process. Make sure your teenager gets around 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night. If the condition persists or worsens, it’s advisable to consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to tailor a more specific treatment plan.
