Managing mixed skin requires balancing the dual nature of its dryness and oiliness. This condition often stems from an imbalance in the body’s dosha, specifically the combination of Vata (dryness) and Pitta or Kapha (oiliness). To tailor an Ayurveda-based strategy:

Start with cleansing. Use gentle, natural cleansers. Avoid harsh, chemical based products. Consider something with neem or turmeric, which can help with inflammation and prevent bacteria growth. Cleanse twice a day, but not more, to aerate to avoid disrupting your skin’s natural oils.

Moisturizing can be tricky. You may find gel-based or water based moisturizers work best. Aloe vera gel could be a good option; its hydrating without being too heavy. Or light oils like jojoba or calendula could be applied sparingly.

Include lifestyle changes. Drink warm water throughout the day to aid digestion but also hydrate your whole system. You can add a slice of lemon, but avoid ice-cold drinks which can disrupt digestive ‘agni’ (fire).

Focus on your diet. Avoid overly spicy, sour, or oily foods which inflame pitta and kapha. Instead, incorporate fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Include foods good for all doshas like ghee and cooked apples or pears in the morning.

Weekly apply a multani mitti (fuller’s earth) face mask to absorb excess oil and cleanse the pores thoroughly. Add rose water for pitta pacifying effect.

Lastly, ensure adequate sleep and low stress. Practices like yoga and meditation help maintain this balance. Bear in mind, everyone’s skin reacts differently, and if conditions persist consult a professional.
