what is the uses of neem - #41660
I am really worried about my skin lately. I’ve been dealing with this annoying eczema for what feels like forever. I heard somewhere that neem might help with skin issues, but I don’t really understand what is the uses of neem. Like, I’ve read it can be good for inflammation and stuff? But then I also heard it's great for treating dandruff and boosting immunity? It feels like it does a little bit of everything! Last week, I made a neem paste and tried to put it on the affected areas, but it left my skin feeling kinda dry. Am I using it wrong? What is the uses of neem in more specific terms? Should I be applying it more often or is there a certain way to use it for eczema? I also thought about taking neem capsules, are those effective too? Honestly, my diet hasn’t been the best with all the stress going on, and I’ve been feeling kinda low energy as well, so I'm also curious if neem can help with that part of my life too. Just trying to figure out what is the uses of neem beyond skin care, you know? Any thoughts or suggestions would really help!

Neem, known as Azadirachta indica in Ayurveda, is highly valued for its multifaceted uses, particularly in skin care, due to its bitter, astringent properties that deal with excess pitta and kapha dosha. For eczema, neem’s anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities are beneficial. You’ve already experienced its potential drying effect, which is common. To mitigate this, blend neem paste with a natural moisturizer such as coconut oil or honey when applying topically, which can help prevent excessive dryness while soothing inflammation.
Applying it two to three times a week might balance efficacy with dryness. It’s important to monitor your skin’s response; every person’s prakriti (constitution) differs. For ingestion, neem capsules can support detoxification processes (ama elimination), boost immunity, and maintain healthy skin from the inside. However, neem is potent, and taking it in excess can lead to imbalances, like aggravated vata, causing further dryness or fatigue.
As for your low energy, this might be linked to digestive fire (agni). Incorporate neem moderately with a satvic diet rich in easily digestible, freshly cooked meals. Incorporating warm spices like ginger, or sipping warm water with lime can also sustain agni while reducing stress.
Regarding dandruff, neem’s anti-fungal properties are effective, often through neem-infused oil massages for the scalp. As with any therapeutic use, begin with a patch test to avoid irritation. If you persistently experience severe eczema or systemic issues, consulting with a healthcare professional specializing in skin care is essential.
