To address the vocal concerns and post-nasal drip you’re experiencing, Ayurveda approaches these issues holistically, considering imbalances in your doshas. Your condition might be related to Vata and Kapha imbalance. Here’s some guid*
First, focus on maintaining proper hydration. Drink warm water throughout the day, perhaps with a few tulsi (holy basil) leaves in it, which may help soothe your throat. Avoid cold drinks, spicy food and excessive talking, as these can strain your vocal cords further. Each bite of food, chew well to aid digestion and minimize irritation caused by post nasal drip.
Include a diet that is light and easy to digest, with plenty of warm soups and stews. Favor foods like cooked vegetables, moong dal (lentils), and whole grains. Turmeric with milk is known in Ayurveda for its anti-inflammatory properties; consider having a warm drink of turmeric milk before bedtime. A pinch of black pepper and honey can be added for extra benefit.
Nasal steam inhalation using eucalyptus oil can act as a relief for post-nasal drip and helps open the nasal passages. Regular practice of Pranayama, particularly the Bhramari and Anulom Vilom, can enhance breath control and reduce stress on the vocal cords. Make sure your living area is not too dry; a humidifier might be a wise investment to maintain moist air, aiding in reducing the post-nasal symptom*
Some Ayurvedic herbs like Licorice (Yashtimadhu) can be beneficial for throat health. A decoction or herbal tea made with licorice is advisable. However, consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any herbal regime.
Since post-surgery, rest your voice as much as possible. Ensure you follow up with ENT specialists and speech therapy as needed, as these integrated approaches would be essential for achieving lasting results. Remember, healing takes time, and patience is key.
