Doctors' responses
Tinnitus, as per Ayurvedic understanding, often stems from an imbalance in Vata dosha. It is not uncommon for Vata imbalance to contribute to issues like vertigo, sleep disturbances, and even skin concerns due to drying and erratic qualities. First and foremost, consistency in routine can help pacify Vata. Aim to rise and rest at the same times daily. Favor oil massages with warm sesame oil, aiding both mind and body relaxation, ideally before bath.
Dietary adjustments are important too. Opt for warm, cooked foods. Avoid cold, raw, or overly spicy items that can aggravate Vata. Grains like rice or wheat, stewed fruits, and cooked leafy greens may be beneficial, lending grounding qualities. Include a teaspoon of ghee with meals—it improves digestion and lubrifies the body from within.
For sleep, Ashwagandha and Brahmi are well-regarded. A small tea made from these herbs can be sipped before bed, aiding relaxation. Ensure your sleeping environment is calming and free from electronic disturbances post sunset. Employ relaxation practices like gentle yoga or meditation to soothe the nervous system.
Skin ailments should be tailored more specifically, but a turmeric and sandalwood paste, applied topsically, can relieve certain conditions, provided your practitioner agrees. It is vital to continue visiting your doctor for your skin issues as they can monitor and guide you precisely.
If symptoms worsen or cause significant discomfort, immediate medical attention becomes necessary. Ayurvedam serves as a complement, not substitute, to professional healthcare, thus it’s prudent to align your actions accordingly.
