Addressing hair loss involves understanding your unique dosha balance and lifestyle. Often, hair thinning is due to Imbalance in Vata dosha which can cause dryness and weakness in hair roots. Start by including more healthy fats in your diet, like ghee, sesame oil, and almonds, which nourishes the scalp and hair from within. Eating fresh, warm foods and avoiding raw or stale food could also be beneficial.
Focus on consuming iron-rich vegetables like spinach and amla as they support healthy hair growth. Including herbal formulations like Bhringraj and Ashwagandha might help in rejuvenating hair follicles. These can be taken in powder form—mix them with honey and take a teaspoonful twice daily. Additionally, a great deal of hair health is inversely affected by stress—so join some meditation or yoga practices to reduce stress levels.
Applying a warm oil treatment can be soothing and invigorating for the scalp. Massage your scalp gently with a blend of coconut oil and hibiscus oil twice a week. Allow it to sit for an hour before washing off with a mild herbal shampoo. Additionally, boiling some bhringraj leaves in coconut oil and applying this mixture can strengthen the roots and promote hair growth on the crown area.
Avoid using chemical laden hair products that might exacerbate hair loss, and go for herbal shampoos ones. Pay attention to how you dry and style your hair—pat dry gently and minimize heat styling tools. Ensure that your sleep is sufficient around 7 to 8 hours and restorative to allow your body to naturally repair and rejuvenate .
If you notice significant hair loss persist, then consider consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized diagnosis and treatment that fits your body constitution and lifestyle. They may suggest Panchakarma therapies which could help detoxify and balance your dosha. Remember, patience and consistency with these practices can aid in reviving both hair health and confidence.
Hair thinning and loss after pregnancy is a common concern, often linked to hormonal changes and imbalances which can affect both pitta and vata doshas. The stress from significant life changes, like moving to a new city, can exacerbate these imbalances further. Additionally, pregnancy and the postnatal phase involve a natural shedding period known as telogen effluvium, which most women experience. Here are a few Siddha-Ayurvedic approaches that might help:
First, focus on diet. Incorporate foods rich in iron, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins like A, B, D, E into your meals. Leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and dairy can be beneficial. Trikatu churna may enhance your agni (digestive fire), improving your body’s absorption of nutrients vital for hair regrowth. You can take a small amount with warm water after meals.
Next, massage your scalp weekly with a mixture of bhringraj oil and amla oil to nourish the hair roots and stimulate blood circulation, which may promote regrowth. Warm the oils slightly before application and leave it overnight if possible.
Consider incorporating herbal preparations like brahmi and ashwagandha, which can assist in stress management and hormonal balance. These may be available in capsule form or brewed as teas.
Practice Nasya, applying a couple of drops of Anu taila in each nostril in the morning, which can clear energy channels (nadis) and balance doshas that might be impacting hair health.
If these suggestions don’t elicit improvement after a consistent regimen of three months, consult a medical professional to investigate underlying conditions. Hair issues can sometimes signify broader health concerns that need timely attention, so don’t defer necessary evaluations.
