It is not advisable to take ragi with salt You can take with dry fruits powder with jaggery
It is completely safe & healthy for most people , this is a very nutritious, traditional Indian drink (like ragi malt) and one of the best ways to gain healthy weight, energy & strength. Adding a pinch of salt is fine & even beneficial (helps digestion & electrolyte balance).
Benefits of Your Drink Ragi – high calcium, iron, fiber , great for bones, energy & weight gain. Dry fruits – healthy fats, protein & calories , builds muscle & stamina. Milk – protein & calcium , supports weight gain & recovery. Salt (small pinch) – improves taste & absorption, no harm in moderation.
No – it’s not harmful at all if: You use fresh ingredients. Milk is not causing bloating (if lactose sensitive, switch to lactose-free milk). Salt is just a pinch (not more than ¼ tsp per glass).
Tips to Make It Even Better Add 1 tsp ghee , more calories & better absorption. Use warm milk (easier digestion). If you feel too full – reduce to alternate days or smaller glass.

DRINKING RAGI AND DRY FRUITS POWDER WITH MILK IS GENERALLY NORMAL AND HEALTHY FOR MANY PEOPLE ESPECIALLY IF YOU FEEL ENERGIZED AND SATISFIED AFTER TAKING IT
HOWEVER ADDING SALT TO MILK IS NOT IDEAL FROM BOTH AYURVEDIC AND DIGESTIVE POINT OF VIEW MILK IS HEAVY COOLING AND SWEET IN NATURE WHILE SALT IS HEATING AND CAN DISTURB DIGESTION WHEN COMBINED REGULARLY THIS COMBINATION MAY NOT CAUSE IMMEDIATE PROBLEMS BUT WITH DAILY USE IT CAN LEAD TO SLOW DIGESTION GAS BLOATING SKIN ISSUES OR CIRCULATION STIFFNESS IN SOME PEOPLE
RAGI ITSELF IS GOOD FOR ENERGY BONES AND SATIETY BUT IT IS HEAVY AND SHOULD BE TAKEN IN A DIGESTIBLE FORM DRY FRUITS ARE ALSO HEAVY AND OILY SO THE COMBINATION WITH MILK IS BEST TAKEN IN MODERATION AND AT THE RIGHT TIME
IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE THIS DRINK SAFELY USE WARM MILK NOT COLD AVOID ADDING SALT IN MILK
IF TASTE IS AN ISSUE YOU CAN ADD A SMALL AMOUNT OF JAGGERY OR DRY GINGER POWDER OR CARDAMOM TAKE IT IN THE MORNING OR AS A BREAKFAST OPTION NOT AT NIGHT
IF YOU HAVE BP OR CIRCULATION ISSUES REGULAR SALT ADDITION EVEN IN SMALL AMOUNTS DAILY IS NOT ADVISABLE
SINCE YOU ARE FEELING GOOD IT MEANS YOUR BODY IS CURRENTLY TOLERATING IT BUT FOR LONG TERM HEALTH I WOULD ADVISE MODIFYING THE COMBINATION RATHER THAN STOPPING IT COMPLETELY
Hello, The combination is very, good except for salt. Please do not add salt. Imstead you can add little honey/jaggery. Take care, Kind regards.
Hello
Ragi with dry fruits and milk?
–That’s a pretty solid combo. Ragi loads you up with calcium, iron, and fiber—awesome for bones and energy. –Dry fruits bring in healthy fats and minerals, plus a calorie boost.
And milk? –You get your protein and even more calcium. If you feel full and energized after drinking it, that’s a good sign your body handles it well.
But here’s where things get tricky:
mixing milk and salt. –Ayurveda says nope, don’t do it. –They call it “Viruddha Ahara,” which just means these foods don’t get along. –Milk is naturally sweet and cooling, while salt is heating and salty. –Put them together, and you mess with your digestion.
Over time, this can lead to bloating, gas, skin breakouts, or even joint stiffness. It might not hit you right away, but if you drink milk with salt every day, it can slowly throw your system out of balance.
Want to keep your ragi drink healthy?
–Go for ragi and dry fruits with milk, but skip the salt.Sweeten it with something natural—dates powder, a bit of jaggery, or soaked raisins. That’s the best way.
–If you’re craving a salty taste, make your ragi porridge with water instead of milk. –Then add salt, some jeera powder, and a little ghee. Just keep milk and salt apart.
Who needs to be extra careful?
– Anyone dealing with indigestion, sinus issues, coughs, skin problems, or joint pain. For timing, have this drink in the morning or after a workout, but skip it at night.
Milk and salt don’t mix. Ragi, dry fruits, and milk are great—as long as you go the sweet route. Ragi with salt? Sure, just use water instead of milk. Easy rule: Milk likes sweet, not salty.

Millet + Dryfruit + Milk = NO PROBLEM 👍
Milk/ Milk products + Salt = POISON 🚨🚨🚨
Use cumin seed powder, carrom seed powder, sry ginger powder for taste purpose.
Ragi and dry fruits drink with milk is generally healthy and nourishing, and if you feel energized after drinking it, that is a good sign.
However, I would not recommend adding salt in milk-based drinks daily, because:
Salt + milk combination may cause digestive imbalance
Can increase water retention / puffiness
May aggravate Pitta and cause acidity in some people
✅ Instead of salt, use these to enhance taste:
(Choose 1–2 options only)
Elaichi (cardamom) powder
Dry ginger (saunth) pinch
Cinnamon (dalchini) pinch
Nutmeg (jaiphal) very small pinch (at night only)
Saffron (kesar) 1–2 strands
Jaggery (gur) / dates paste for sweetness (better than sugar)
Honey (only after milk becomes lukewarm, not in hot milk)
✅ Best way to consume:
Take it warm or lukewarm
Prefer morning / evening
If digestion is weak, take it alternate days instead of daily
✅ Is It Harmful? - Not harmful if taken in moderation and with no allergies. - In fact, this combination is nutritious and energizing, especially for someone aiming for healthy weight gain. - The only caution is salt intake—keep it minimal, since milk and dry fruits don’t need much salt for taste.
🌱 Benefits of Daily Consumption - Provides calorie-dense nutrition (helpful for weight gain). - Keeps you energized and satisfied, which you’ve already noticed. - Supports bone strength, digestion, and immunity.
