Advice for Healing Post-Surgery Wound and Lipoma Management - #48405

Client_a63e9a

Namaste! I had an ateroma and about a month ago it got inflamed, so I had it surgically removed. I was about 3 weeks ago and since then the wound has not healed yet and the lipoma itself seems to be re-forming. There is some reddishness circling the wound, and the skin around is also red and irritated in the places where I apply adhesive plaster. Could you kindly advise if there is any oinment for extrnal aplication that could target these 3 goals - to speed up the healing of the wound, working anticeptically, to soothe irritation and to combat lipoma? Can any of this be of help - Kailas Jeevan, Neem oil, Satadhoutamgrhritam? What are other possible variants? Should the wound be kept under the plaster or just under some gauze patches? I'd be very thankful for all possible suggestions!

Doctors' responses

🔍 First, what may be happening From your description, more than one issue is present: Delayed wound healing Local inflammation / mild infection (redness around wound) Contact dermatitis from adhesive plaster Possible residual cyst wall → giving feeling that “lipoma/atheroma is reforming” ⚠️ Important truth: If an atheroma (sebaceous cyst) starts reforming, it is usually NOT a new lipoma, but remaining cyst wall or trapped sebum. 👉 No external ointment can dissolve a true lipoma or cyst wall. 🚨 When to re-consult the surgeon (very important) Please do this before focusing only on ointments if: Redness is increasing There is warmth, throbbing, or discharge The lump is clearly enlarging A small retained capsule sometimes needs re-opening or drainage, otherwise healing will remain slow. 🌿 Now, coming to your questions on ointments (Ayurvedic & safe) 1️⃣ Satadhouta Ghrita (VERY GOOD choice) ✅ Best option for your situation Excellent for wound healing Strongly soothing Reduces redness, burning, irritation Safe on post-surgical wounds (if clean) How to use Apply a thin layer directly on the wound once or twice daily Best applied after gentle cleaning with sterile saline or boiled-cooled water 👍 This is the first-line ointment I would recommend. 2️⃣ Neem oil ⚠️ Use with caution Strong antiseptic Can be irritating on open or sensitive wounds 👉 If you want to use neem: Do NOT apply directly on open wound Can be applied around the wound edges once daily Stop if burning or redness increases 3️⃣ Kailas Jeevan ❌ Not ideal for open surgical wounds Contains multiple ingredients that may block aeration Better for boils, cracked skin, minor injuries Can delay epithelialization in surgical wounds 👉 I would avoid it for now 🩹 About plaster vs gauze (VERY IMPORTANT) ❌ Adhesive plaster directly on skin Causing contact dermatitis (as you noticed) Slows healing ✅ Best method for you Loose sterile gauze Fixed with paper tape or bandage, not tight Or leave open if: No discharge Area is clean No friction from clothing 👉 The wound does NOT need to be airtight. Healing is often faster with clean air exposure. 🌿 Can anything “combat lipoma / atheroma externally”? Honestly: ❌ No ointment can remove a lipoma or cyst capsule External applications can only: Reduce inflammation Improve skin healing Prevent infection If something is reforming, it’s usually mechanical/surgical, not medicinal. 🌱 Optional supportive measures Avoid repeated touching or pressing the area Ensure adequate protein intake If you use herbs internally, ensure they are not blood-thinning 📌 My clear, practical recommendation Stop adhesive plaster Use Satadhouta Ghrita locally Keep wound clean + lightly covered with gauze or open If lump is reforming → show surgeon once Avoid harsh antiseptics unless discharge appears.
