A persistent sensation of cough or irritation in the throat can be due to excess Kapha, dryness, or mild acid reflux. Follow this plan for relief: Start your day by gargling with warm water mixed with a pinch of salt and turmeric. Do this twice daily, once in the morning and once before bed, to reduce throat irritation and clear mucus. Take one teaspoon of Sitopaladi Churna mixed with honey on an empty stomach to soothe the throat and balance Kapha. Prepare a herbal tea by boiling tulsi leaves, grated ginger, black pepper, and a small piece of licorice root in water. Drink it warm two to three times a day to soothe the throat and improve immunity. Chew on a small piece of mulethi (licorice root) or suck on a mulethi lozenge after meals to reduce irritation. Avoid cold, fried, or spicy foods, as they aggravate Kapha and can worsen irritation. Focus on warm, easily digestible foods like soups, khichdi, and steamed vegetables. Before sleeping, drink a glass of warm milk with a pinch of turmeric and half a teaspoon of ghee to lubricate the throat and calm dryness. Follow this routine consistently for 7–10 days. If the issue persists, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to check for underlying causes like allergies or reflux.
